over in europe people have gone 920cc(and possibly larger) but once you start getting up around 90hp the cases cant handle it for long and crack. there is a guy in australia or someplace who makes an 840 kit. also several varieties of DIY frankenstein combos are doable using things like virago pistons/sleeves and CR500 rods.

Maybe, but it would be a whole lot of fun while it lasted . Well I was hoping that Yamaha would do what Triumph did and come out with an up dated vertical twin that would be around 950 or 1000. Yamaha are you listening . I'd have to have one.

Biggest pic I've seen of that bike yet. That may be the most hom.. errr... metrosexual paint scheme I've ever seen. Blech. Just black it out already. And putting in a V engine and suggesting it has anything to do with XS lineage is freaking heresy. It's fine for what it is but at least get the engine right.

Here:

Sorry. Didnt have time to fix the asshat vomit blue frame. I should send yamaha a bill :)

OK sorry. Now back to our regularly scheduled posts.

i guess they just want to ride the v twin gravy train, something the general populace will eat up. it is still a cool bike, they just didnt have to go and call it an XS.

I know its not a Yamaha but I just got the latest Cycle World today and there is an article about a new bike Ron Woods built using a BMW F800 motor. Cant find any pictures on line to post. It looks way cool!

A few years ago 2000-2001? Kawasaki put out the "W 650" the best looking retro 650 twin made. They only sold them in the states for 2 years but I think they still may sell them other places. That's the one I'd like to get my hands on.

Awesome xs thread
I had an original 31000 km 1971 xs 2 until two years ago....and all these changes I only dreamed about ....but the ride was so original and in great shape that I was not ready to sacrifice her and sold her for a good profit
fun reliable little bike altogether
