SantaFe Speedway was down on the south-west side along the rail line. They had a national short track and TT there for years. Maywood is 20 miles north of there. I don't recall any motorcycles there.

Be warned however that this is a web page ONLY. The company has been out of business for some time now. The owner (Doug Johnson) was a quadraplegic who had a bad accident, took a turn for the worse, and had to close up shop. You could reproduce this ride easily enough though through companies like Airtech for the bodywork and HVC Cycles http://www.hvccycle.com/ for all or most of it.

Great thread!!!
![]() ![]() ![]() I used to race a BSA 441 Victor on flat track - maybe not the best choice for open competition and I was never very competitive, but damn, I loved the sport! There is a feeling of being on the edge that you get when sliding feet-up through a slick turn with a dozen other snarling bikes banging and bopping along with you that is hard to match in any other sport. Are there any flat track events within 200 miles of western NC that anybody knows of? I'd love to see some more races. |

King Kenny allegedly said " they dont pay me enough to ride that thing "
It scared the AMA and Harley Fossils enough to ban it in less than 4 races. Heres my tracker |

^^^ I bought my 750 Trackmaster BSA from a co-worker named Bill Landsborough who raced Dist 36 Sportsman with the number 4Q. Wonderful bike but I blew it up two years later on the Sacramento mile. Picture below is at the old Lodi Cycle Bowl (the track with tree turn).
