It's been a while since I've been able to work on the bike, but today I got the headlight on and finished the seat pan.

Great Work! Love those pipes! Any other angles of the bike?

Thanks. I have a lot of build pics (GR650 link in my sig line), but not a lot of the overall bike. After the fab work is done, but before I paint it, I plan on taking a bunch of nice pics to show the lines of the bike.

Here are some pipe pics...

Pipes took me about 30 hours. I think I could do it a bit faster next time.

Champion eBay project

It is almost a roller now.

Mocking up the motor mounts out of thin aluminum today.

I think the rules at the time let Harley use a 1000cc Sportster engine... if I remember correctly.
I had a poster of him and the bike back in the 70s. Sure looks like the same bike converted to a street tracker.

H-D used destroked sportster engines after the AMA bumped OHV displacement to 750, while the XR motor was still in developement.
But if you have real proof of 1000cc motors used in GN dirt bikes I'd want to see it.

DO

Displacement for oval track racing was 750cc with a .040 overbore for the pros. In TT competition the displacement was 900cc's not 1,000cc's. The 883cc Sportsters (XLCH, etc.) were approved for TT competition.

I can also assure you that the "Street Tracker pictured is not "Goliath" AKA Brelsford's famous TT bike.

Zilla!

Sweet looking bike Mark, why did you choose the rearward position for the motor? Looks like it could move forward quite a few inches.

I know it looks a bit funky with the motor so far back.
I didn't want to have the counter shaft sprocket too far from the swingarm pivot.
Keeping the chain slack to minimum is the goal. I needed to keep the chain off of the swingarm too.

The final motor mounts won't look like a billboard like you see now.

Looks like you've got room for an SR or FT motor. What motor was the frame built for ?

I am curious to know what motor went in that frame. The swingarm looks odd in the photos. What markings are on the neck ?
