Bluhduh Zumo & Vista

So I bought a POS Acer with vista, and have been having a ton of trouble getting to work with the zumo software. Did I once again make the wrong choice in computers? I mean its suposed to work with windows 2000 or newer. I assume vista is newer.?

Some problems Im having.
-Puter dosn't recognize the unit when pluged in
-therfore, wont get favorites or anuthing else off the unit
-have to have the disk in to see maps even after install.

As far as on the bike I like the 450. Although I havent figured out how to save a trip to it.

Any advice apprecciated.

Wink Zumo & Vista

I have a Zumo 550 and run Windows Vista on a new notebook I boght 6 months ago. Also had problems when I first went to use it .... problems opening up City Select, problems getting it to see the Zumo correctly ....

I contacted Garmin tech and here's what they told me to do ..... In Window's Vista the Garmin CitySelect program NEEDS to be opened and run as the Administrator (and not just a user that has Admin rights) to work correctly. They are working on a patch that will fix this issue but for now, when you goto run the CitySelect software .... RIGHT click on the icon and choose "Run as Administrator". I'll report this has worked great for me, my CitySelect and Zumo have been funtioning great with Vista since I started doing this.

Hope this helps YOU.

Mark

Download and install the latest Mapsource directly from Garmin. The "update" function in Mapsource doesn't seem to work too reliably. Then install your mapsets from the DVD.

The Zumo doesn't work the same as previous Garmins and is only visible as 2 removable drives. Once you update Mapsource, you will be able to transfer maps, routes, waypoints and tracks directly to and from any removable drive. (CF, SD, MS, USB, etc)

I'm using city navigator. I cant even find it on the hard drive unless the disk is in. Then I have to use the unlock code everytime. I have used the check & repair function, and all checks out.

All Garmin software installs in the \GARMIN\ folder on the boot drive by default.

Have you tried Start>All Programs>Garmin>Mapsource ?
