I also have the service manual on CD in PDF for reference.
Sounds good.

I'll have a KTM shim kit there and I have a go and no go feeler gauge set that I use on my bike.

I have a service manual also.

Tech Weekend is coming up fast.

Anyone else looking to get involved post up. I'll be sending out PM's today to everyone that has shown interest.

I hope to have all work finished up on Sat or early Sun. Keeping Sunday open to screw around on the track or go for a ride.

Well, everyone has headed home and I think we had another successful year. Hope everyone picked up some tips or insight. I know I did.

Today we even hit the track with some big horsepower machines.

Thanks everyone that was able to swing by to wrench or chat is was great to meet some local 950 riders. Everyone helped each other out and took a load off of me. Really a great group of riders.

Thanks again,
CJ

I'll try and get some pics up soon.

"until next year????"

Fri night GPZ1170 stopped by and we tore into our bikes for a valve check.
In about an hour and half we had our bikes down to the valve covers ready to inspect. Hunger was taking over so we headed up town for a fish fry.

Next morning we inspected and put bikes back together. In about 5.5 hrs we had one bike done. I did not plan on pulling my bike apart, but when plans changed and less bikes showed up than originally thought, there was no better time. I wanted to inspect my carb setting and check over a few things so I'll finish that up this week.

Around 1pm Pburke showed up to do an oil change, then WIsixfitty showed up. Soon after Zigman, and Zorchdog showed up and we had a full shop.

Look at all those S's

Zigman unloaded his trick street legal KTM 300 to rip up the track.

Zorchdog rolled in with a popping motor with no clutch after he ran out of clutch fluid. So GPZ1170 and him started on that as WIsixfitty looked on and warmed up.

PBurke was swapping air filters.

Like a surgeon, or addict....Zorchdog pulls out a syringe to suck out the old black oil ready to bleed the system w/ fresh oil.

PBurke and GPZ1170 finishing up on that air filter.

WIsixfitty's 950 ADVenture

Eating some great Mexican food Katie made to keep us going.

Afterwards Pburke and GPZ1170 headed home and we started to look into Zorchdog's pour running bike.

He's displaying how to custom paint your bike....Not sure you'll be getting a call from the OCC.

We found a cracked vacuum cap and one that was gone, so we plugged them with some fuel line and bolts to get it going again. Then we wired in some plugs to power his new heated liner.

Around 9:30 he headed home.......

10pm knock on the door.

Hey, it's Zorchdog....but no bike and he looks like he's walked a bit.

One of his fuel lines popped off and drained his battery trying to start it. We pull it home and put a charger on. He crashes over to head home on Sun.

My batteries are drained too and I head for bed around 11:30pm.

SUN

Get up around 10am. Dang I was tired.

Zorchdog was gone...Hope you slept well and had a safe ride home.

I hit the track for a few laps on my old race quad (LT500 powered 250R TRX) to dust off the leaves.

Just as I'm hopping off, wannaberacerdude and wife showed up to say hi.

Sorry you missed the show, but it was a pleasure to visit with you two and hope to see you next weekend. They showed up on a shiny orange 950 ADV, great ride.

Kevin and Alexander showed up to hit the trails on there Arctic Cat minis.

After a bit of recoil work we were ready to go.

No pics as we were having too much fun trying to get all those springs and caps back together.

Kevin has had this bike since he was 10, after a few adjustments we hit the trails.

Notice the clean 56 Chevy pickup he uses to haul his bikes. (2 minis and 1 Maico 250 Spyder)

Alex ripping up the field

Kevin's mini broke down so I pulled him back with LC4 and he grabbed the Maico. We rode around for about 2 hrs and Alexander did great for his first time riding on this rough terrain.

Hope Kevin signs on here and post up his video and pics.

That's all I've got. End of the Tech weekend.

Thanks for everyone that came and thanks Katie for making some great food.

Anyone interested in next year?

kudos to cj for lending his expertise, time and home for us crazies.

It was gratifying to finally meet a few others that share my sometimes obsessive need for this most excellent ADV.

thanks again CJ - as usual, to notch organization, food, and expertise for us ADV bums to take advantage of.

Bummer I had so little time this year, but as luck may have it, Tech Day gets extended this weekend in my garage - I picked up a 3" nail in the rear tire on the way home (and didn't realize it until I tried to ride again a few days ago, motor already warm, me in gear, get it off the stand and WTF ...)

I'll miss you guys when I'll b cursing at the tire later this morning

CJ,
Finally got signed up. Alexander and I had a great time. I'll try and post the video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIiYrxBrI5A

Hopefully it works. You guys will have to forgive the shaky, spastic video quality. It's extremely hard to video and ride the Maico with one hand, especially with the iron man clutch pressure.

3rd Annual LC8 Tech Weekend

Anyone up for round 3?

I wanted to have a weekend set aside to do some bike prep before heading out West in Sept.
Warmer weather might help out too.

Aug 14/15/16 2009 is my plan this year for the tech weekend.

Riders can arrive Thursday night after 4pm. I think I'll do one project/seminar a day. People can take part in it on there bike or watch on. We might have a Rekluse install for one of these. I'm sure I'll need a valve check/change by this time too, so I plan to have my bike apart. Maybe even a water pump rebuild install. More details as the time gets closer.

I'm here to help, not to do all the work on your bike. This is not a school, just a group of bike enthusiasts getting together to work on some bikes. Basic knowledge of how to work on your bike is a must if you plan to do some of these projects on your bike. (Can you change your oil?) I'm not responsible for your work done on your bike, that's what paid dealers are for. From years past this has never been an issue, everyone has been very helpful.

Garage space has shrunk some since last year, so inside work space will be limited.

I have 14 acres at my house. 6 acres of wooded track and 6 acres of open field for some trail riding if the conditions allows. Camping will be required for this event or there are hotels in town about 5 miles away. (Not sure what state of disrepair the house will be in around this time) I may have to set a limit on the number of people so check your calenders now.

Keep me posted of your thoughts. I need to get this on the calender soon.

If you'd like to attend, reply here and also put down what kind of stuff you'd like to see or have done to your bike.

This is open to all riders, but the focus is on the KTM 950/990 bikes.
