Motorcycle Cannonball 2012 stops in Mt. Home on PM of 18th Sept 2012
Tuesday September 18th the Vintage Motorcycle Cannonball Run endurance race Stage 11runs from Jackson Hole WY to Mt Home Idaho and stops for the night. Anyone interested in running to Mt. Home in the afternoon of the 18th to see the vintage bikes and talk with a few of the riders? Contacted Mt. Chamber of Commerce and all the Riders are staying at the Hampton Inn at Exit 95. This in the exit for HWY 20 to Fairfield. Anyone planning to go? This is my first post. Thanks Jim.

weekend escape - desperate!
I really, really need to get out of the Treasure Valley this weekend and into some clean air for a change. Problem is, with wildfires in so many places, I don't know which way to turn. I did some online research and found only a few locations where the gov't is monitoring air quality and reporting it in real time.
I'm thinkin' maybe if I head out toward the southeast I could breathe a little, if just for two days.... ![]() Suggestions? Ideas? Cautions?

I came back from the Imnaha/ Halfway area Sunday night, the sky was still blue but there was most definately still a haze, nothing you could smell or tast though. And as a bonus, we stayed in a FS campground and were able to build a campfire. |

Went up to Bear Valley northwest of the Trinity Ridge fire on Tuesday and was pleasantly surprised to see blue skies. Not a bad day trip up there. |

Smoke
I went to Paker John and No Business lookouts yesterday. They were both totally socked in with smoke. From Packer John looking east it was all smoked in. I would bet that Deadwood and Bear Valley are just as bad. At No Business, the lookout guy said the smoke has been blowing in from the north the last couple of days.

Last Wed. I rode near Packer John and East Mtn lookouts. Blue(ish) haze. Couldn't see the valleys below.

Time to dig all that old gear out! The Backcountry Pursuit is moving forward and starting to collect gear. Our location is finalized at 671 S Capitol Blvd in downtown Boise. We will be there from 11am-2pm and 4pm-6pm M-F starting on Wednesday, Sept 26th. We'll be under an easy-up in the parking lot while construction is finishing in the store.
This is a great way for you guys to get rid of all that old stuff you have lying around and make some money! It also will help a fellow Adv'er, AKA me, start a local business from scratch. Please get as much of the dirt and dust off as you can and have it ready to go on the floor for sale when you drop it off. I'd love to have anything related to adv motorcycling, camping, hiking, skiing, kayaking, etc, etc, etc. Anything that is in good shape and you want to sell, I'd love to have! Please send all communications through private message here, email at backcountrypursuit@gmail.com, or to my cell phone at 208-995-7060. I don't want to get in trouble for spam, but I hope you guys become a major part of my business. So I am letting you know, ITS TIME!!! Wish me luck and come down to see me!!

I just saw this video that is supposed to be a promotion for Icon gear but I really think it does a better job of promoting Triumph. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTvYA...layer_embedded This makes me want an 800XC and i am sure ti makes you want to go ridding yours. If only I could ride like those guys. ![]() Good luck with the new adventure! |

RetroTouring
I'm here and still alive.
I just started a new thread over here http://advrider.com/forums/showthrea...7#post19684337 on my latest ride. The adventure was as much the machines as it was the ride so sit back relax and enjoy RetroTouring.

2012 Lazy Butt
Just finished a week of singling tracking out of Burgdorf.
Got a break on the smoke. Even had the “Mormon Miracle”, a bit of rain. First time I have really ridden the area, still more trails to explore and I need to ride Victim ( Victory ) Creek before I turn 60. http://aitonsride.blogspot.com/2012/...-burgdorf.html ![]() Me making the last stretch up Nether Creek out of Burgdorf campground. It was steep, loose and rocky- awesome trail ! |
