Those pictures again. They made me try to get to Seafoam last year but the roads were still closed for the fire. Hopefully this year!

My ride report backlog is decades long. I just finished a little one with my daughter from six years ago while our local hills were looking pretty fine. There's a ride video at the end from about 11 years ago:

Well... I never got the chance to check it out... this was across the road... fun ride to Seafoam GS and Josephus Lake though...

Very pretty pics.

I wonder why that's closed? Hope a fire didn't get to the road?

Father's Day Ride

Three of us did the Trail 4-Lower Eagleson-Daggett loop on Sunday. I wont bore you with video of Trail 4. Here's the ride starting at the Eagleson trailhead. As you can tell from the videos, I was well wrung out by time we got done. Seems like once you start dropping the darned bike, you can't stay upright!

Nice. Next time mount some gas-powered hedge trimmers to both ends of your bars.

The fires last year did get into the Seafoam area... I hadn't been aware of that until I rode in there... I think the fires are the reason for the sign...

Yep, couldn't get on the gravel at all last year (http://trailimage.com/dagger-falls-i-freeze). If there are dead trees standing in burned out soil the F.S. may keep it closed a while like around the Trinity lakes.

Lava Mountain?

Anyone ridden there? I found no mention of it here. It shows as single track above Smith Prairie on the Idaho Trails site. Figured I might head up there late tomorrow morning, see what it looks like. Turn back whenever I hit snow or trails closed for the Trinity fire. Google Earth has a few photos along the trail if you turn them on.

Found a little more info on it:

Want to go? I'm not an early starter on Saturdays. I'll probably ride across the dirt behind Micron to Bonneville Point then Blacks Creek from there. Could meet somewhere along the route. Stop for food at the Y on the way back, of course. PM me if interested. Otherwise it's me and the camera.

I've ridden a lot of that area but I guess not there. Hope it is a good ride for you with good pics.

Something like this. Leaving in about 12 hours. Everything from points 0-3 to 0-8 is marked as single track.

The trail from Lower Lava up to the junction of Bear Gulch is awesome and flows nicely....Bear Gulch up to Lonestar lake gets a bit rockier but not too technical...Lonestar Lake to Smith Lake has one rocky section to get through...Smith Lake to Upper Lava is a piece of cake.

Sheep Crk is an area you probably don't want to venture alone....there is some steep rocky exposure (depending on the section) where one could get into a bind.....also not sure what if anything has been cleared in that area yet?

.... It looks like you intend to take Bear Gulch over to Rattlesnake/Devils....Bear Gulch is easy, as is Rattlesnake back to the road so long as there is no blow down....Devils to Sheep Crk is recommended as a one way.

You could double back to the road and take Corral Crk to the lower section of Sheep to connect Haga. Haga "did" have some gnarly rock exposure that they were going to blast out....not sure if they ever did?
