Dan, I'm glad you are taking this on and dragging that IAMC group up to Enterprise. I always enjoy having IAMC.

Do you guys want me to save that little slice of lawn in front of the office with the view of the mountains for you? That area where you have been in the past? Sam likes that spot so he can check all the bikes out as they roll into camp.
Yes save our spot in the shade from that light at the entrance!!

Dan and Sam, I may be able to join you this year in Enterprise again! Sorry I missed out last year. I have a different job this year that is a little more flexible so it may be a little easier to get away!

As an Aside: I will be seeing the orthopedic specialist in April for my Hip. Soonest I could get in. I sure hope this doesn't mess up my summer riding!!!! I am working on a Montana Ghost town Loop Kinda like this but... more Ghost towns

Did you tell me? If you did I don't remember you telling me. I think IAMC has squatter rights for that area anyway.

Nice to know you have an appointment. I hope you can get fixed up rapidly so you don't have to be uncomfortable any longer.

Now about that ghost town ride...... I like the video.

I didn't know there was a light at the entrance that you needed to be shaded from. I guess I need to wander around after the sun goes down a little more to see what the campground looks like after dark.

No problem with the light though, Sam will shade you from the light.

The IAMC

I have been out of the loop on the Boise thread here for a while, so I am just now getting to put my two cents in.

I was a very active member of the IAMC back in the day, right after it first started, it's where I met Sam, Ryan, Heath, Ed (and all the other Hiatts), and made some great friendships. When I left Boise after grad school during the winter of 2009/2010, the club was still going strong and the idea of the Challenge was just being footed.

I have to be honest, the club and those connections I made are a large part of the reason I moved back to Boise in 2012. I hoped that I could pick up things right where they left off, but it was clear that the club had really changed. Families has expanded, people had gotten burnt out, and priorities had changed. So I hooked up with the few members I knew who were still active (IdahoSam, FoolHardy), and enjoyed those rides very much.

I have to say, I absolutely LOVED the challenge, for me this year was my first experience, and as a pretty active geocacher back in the day it totally combined my love of geocaching and motorcycle riding. That being said, it probably distracted from me posting group rides, because I had a laser like focus on completing the Challenge. And I couldn't help but wonder if that is part of the reason the club became fractured. The challenge seems like it could almost end up pitting people against one another.

Anyway, I want to say that I appreciate everyone in the club who has busted their ass over the years to make it better, especially Ed, Heath, Terri and Hez. Sam, Craig, Ryan, Phil, Nathan and countless other kept me sane while I was in grad school and made me a much better rider than the day I joined the club.

I would love to see the club flourish once again, unfortunately for me, like many others, work makes it hard for me to predict my schedule. If I had a 9-5 in Boise I would volunteer my services in a second, but unfortunately my schedule rarely lets me commit to anything more than a few days in advance.

Thanks again to everyone who is working to make this club great again, and if there is anything you think I can do, bearing in mind my crazy schedule, just drop me a PM.

On that note, has anyone heard from Ed? Is he okay? He and I were to get together something this past week but I cannot reach him.

I've received several emails from people wondering about "what's next" regarding the club and, alas, I'm at a standstill till I hookup with Ed. :-(

I was at "Happy Trails" today talking to Jim Eldredge... (I dropped off my Super Tenere' so they can use it as a model to "mock up" some stuff). Anyway, Ed is scheduled to be back there starting first of February, so you can reach him at Happy Trails next Monday?

Whether we do a challenge through the club or not (I believe we will), we will have a challenge this year, even if we just post up the sites here on ADV (or link them here) or; we can start a new thread here on ADV and post up the challenge sites and our pictures there... I have 45 sites with coordinates already selected. I'm just waiting on the club to determine whether they are going to support the challenge (don't want to compete with them if they decide to do it). If they don't, I'll post them up here... it will be a less official challenge and just for fun... but that's not necessarily a bad thing!... heck that's what the 2013 challenge turned out to be anyway!

stay tuned!!

I think there is going to be something done by the club to recognize 13 challenge riders. At least that is what I gathered at the meeting. 14 Challenge is going to happen. Keep an eye on the web site for subcommittee signups. I am sure they would welcome your input OR HELP! Enough concerned members showed up at the meeting to insure the future of the IAMC.

Sounds good... I've been in touch with Dax and hoped to talk to ED today at HT, but he hadn't returned yet. I will be happy to help if the opportunity comes... and the circumstances are right.

I had some input into the 2013 challenge sites and enjoyed doing it... I much prefer the challenge remain a part of IAMC...

Sounds like exciting times! I'd be happy to help out where my experience fits (I've only ridden 250's until recently). I've got a strong back and a weak mind.

Also hoping to make it over to the Wallowas this June. Sounds like a good time.

I love it! I'd say the same thing.... if only my back were stronger.

It was my understanding Ed was going to contact daxm after he went back to work in Feb.

Perhaps these discussions should occur on the IAMC website, Just sayin.

The IAMC website is not very user friendly... I won't go into all the details here, but it is difficult to carry on an exchange of ideas there due the way messages are set up.

This thread is about Boise area riding and riders, and the club is based in Boise. Perfectly appropriate to discuss it here... if we weren't discussing it here, the meeting last week about reviving the club would not have happened... good thing we're discussing it here.
