Are new 640 Adventures still available?

I put a deposit down on one today, and I really hope my dealer knows what he's talking about. He says he can still get me a new '07 640 Adventure, but it might take him a few days to track one down.

Anyone want to weigh in on this? Are there still '07 640Advs in the pipeline?

Edit: I guess I could be a little less provincial (sorry folks): I mean, "available in the US".

One here

There's one on the showroom of my local shop. I suspect you won't get it though - it's a long way from Perth to Ozark! .

I'm sure there's still a fair few out there unsold, but stock will be depleting rapidly as everyone cottons on to how good these bikes are and how long it might take KTM to get a 690 Adventure to market and then sorted with a good reputation.

It would be a helluva ride home, though, wouldn't it?

I wonder if it would get me out of paying sales tax?

Thumb Get a quote

Goto ktmtalk.com and join then click on get a quote at the top of the page.

Thats how I got my 06 640 I had 3 dealers get back with me within 24 hours. One was way high - one was OK put would not ship the bike - last one was the lowest price and would ship the bike anyplace in the US.

Within 2 weeks I was the owner of a new 640.

I believe when you subscribe to ktmtalk - you only get two free requests of dealers - after that you must be a KTMTalk Member if memory serves....

I've just bought the last one my dealer is getting and picking it up on Saturday. They were just giving it the PDI check this afternoon when I went in to do the paperwork. I had a great deal as it already comes with free luggage from KTM but I had another 500 off the list price as well.

Can't wait to get it.

found another one

Well, it seemed a bit too good to be true, and lo, there was a glitch with the first dealer.

However, the dealer in my own town came through with a bike at a good price, and ready to ride out the door on Saturday morning. They'll pick it up from another dealer tomorrow (Friday), and prep it. And since I have schedule conflict on Saturday, they said they'll come in early on Saturday morning (at 7:30am!) so that I can pick it up.

If things continue to go as smoothly, I'll be sure to mention who they are, since so far they're doing a nice job.

Looking forward to picking up the bike, and keeping my fingers crossed that nothing else comes up...

Jason - I had to register in order to get quotes. However I didn't quite get that far as the dealer in my town came through.

3 left in the country???

FWIW,

the first dealer i worked with said there were only 6 left in KTM's dealer network around the country, and that when they tried to get mine, 3 of those 6 were already commited. Leaving 3 according to first dealer... None in Florida, where they were located.

Dealer says: "For some reason all of the sudden everybody wants one of these".

I guess folks are figuring out that the 690 Adventure ain't gonna happen.

The 2nd dealer, who I'm actually getting my bike from, is in Missouri, and I believe they're getting my bike from another dealer in either Missouri or Kansas. (It's close enough to go pick up.)

I was very lucky to get mine as well here in the UK. The same day as I bought mine the dealer had another phone call asking after the bike and then when I was in the showroom last Saturday two more people came in asking about them. I guess if anyone wanted to sell one at the moment they'd get good money on it.

I know when my local dealer gets a used one in they're normally gone within a few days as they're very popular.

I guess this is a good/bad thing.
They are hard to find new or used, which keeps their value up.
Yet, I believe we may see a change once the 690 version (what ever they call it) hits the states.

Yet, until then, I'm going to continue enjoying mine.

That was my conclusion. Well, that and the F800GS still being vaporware. Both will happen in time, me thinks, just a lot of time.

Picked up the 640 today

My local dealer, KTM of the Ozarks, came through with a brand new 640Adv.

I had not done business with these guys before, but they were very nice to work with. And they really went out of their way to acquire a bike for me quickly (they drove 8 hours round-trip to Kansas City to pick up one from another dealer, and did not charge me delivery.) Then they stayed late on a Friday night to complete the sale so I could get the bike tonight.

Two thumbs up for KTM of the Ozarks! Good job, guys.

I got the bike home pretty late, after wrassling it off my 4x4 pickup by myself, I had about 15 minutes to take it for a spin. Not much to say yet, except that I like the bike and I'm happy with the power. Seems to be geared a smidgen high for the slow technical trails I'll get into, but that's easily remedied.

I'll post more impressions and some pics tomorrow.
