Some people will tell you they are not servicable... however if you find the right person they can completely rebuild them. I had mine done this past summer... the chap welded a valve on top and rebuilt the inners as both adjusters were not turning (just spinning around). He had was unsure about the insides but as he's been building shocks for over 35 years he had a few spare parts to mess with as he could not get the same internals. Top job for 90. I guess its a case of who you know!

From one point of view, there are essentially 2 types of shocks, those that are designed to be rebuilt and those that aren't.

That doesn't mean you can't rebuild the 'throw aways' but it isn't anywhere near as easy. Nor are there 'stock parts' available. But the internals from other similar shocks can be used to replace the worn out parts. But in the end it is possible assuming you can find someone who knows how and is willing to do it.

As I understand it, the front shock is not rebuildable. The rear is. However, I have a buddy who tore apart the front and rebuilt his own. He won't share how and won't do it for anyone else. He is a professional motorcycle mechanic who is very closed mouthed about his work. So, if he can do it; then I'm equally sure someone else can.

You could try these guys: http://www.le-suspension.com/shock-services/

I just bought a spring off them. I'm a happy customer, no affiliations etc.

Just picked up this 95 GS last weekend. Its my first BMW and so far I'm loving it. 52k miles with no apparent transmission problems. I think it was a pretty good deal for $2k.

???

I think you got screwed, want your money back?

Great deal on a great bike. I am on my first BMW and love it. Love it even more when I ride it and work on it.

I would go to Anton's site and see what transmission you have in it, probably a M94. If you have any questions feel free to give me a PM.

Good looking GS!

Crazy thing is, it was from a BMW dealer. Hell, there were probably riding suits in there that cost more than my bike.

You can't beat that with a stick.

Here's my '95 last weekend at Meat Cove.
