To answer your question, the throttle body spindle bushes need replacing. Find a post by Dan Cata and check the link in his signature.
You nailed it, sorry for clogging up the thread but much appreciate your reply.

My contribution....'94 R1100GS, 42000 miles, Marakesh red. First BMW and really enjoy it. Trying to get my rattling right throttle body sorted out and looking for a replacement windshield. Previous owner cut the factory one down and I'd like it returned to stock.

When I place my finger on the pulley it stops instantly.....advice?

The noise is from the pulley itself tapping the set or limiting screw at the rear.

Also, in the spirit of the thread I'll get a pic up ASAP.
Hey, we know the cure but please start a new thread.
Or read this to start with.

Does it kill the 'paint shaker' buffeting of the stock screen?

Hmmmnnn. Yes and no. It's too short for me at 6'3". When it's all the way up, the air hits right at the top of my helmet and buffets it. When it's all the way down, the air hits right below my helmet, sending air up into my helmet which is really noisy. I'll be selling it as soon as its replacement arrives.

PM sent, btw.

Gonna try a Wunderlich Vario Screen. If that doesn't work . . .

Keep us posted on the Vario... I've been considering trying one myself. Like you I'm 6' 4" and the solution seems to be shortening the stock screen about 4" maybe or trying the Vario.

I've got the Vario, MRA variation (same thing with the MRA sticker, rather than Wunderlich. Much less expensive as they make them for Wunderlich). http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade...tview/987/119/ Mine sits on top of R1150GS Torbinators. It works pretty good, not perfect, but better than the stock and the tall Givi I replaced. I transplanted an R1150GS beak and I have winglets on the beak -- between the two I find pretty smooth air, even at 6'6". Works in all but crosswinds. With the torbonators it does leave a pretty big gap between the bottom part of the windshield and the headlight where I have it set. Still trying to figure a way to fill the gap. If the top part of the shield was a couple inches taller I'd just get rid of the torbinators (altho the flex might be too much). Some day I'll find someone to make the top part a little taller -- don't want to add the little extension you can buy from Touratech or that other company I can't remember right now.

Nice thing about the Vario is you could drop the top section or take it all the way off if your looking for more airflow in the summer. Probably only want to do this if your cruising up and down the boulevard and not at high speed.
