It's sporting a new clutch, new drive shaft and transmission input shaft. Clutch had been adjusted out til about the last 1/4" of lever throw at 58K due to premature wear and I babied it to 69,000. Last trip back from Mexico it started slipping in 5th on the highway. At a previous maintenance we discovered the shaft u-joint was notchy and Hank said it usually comes from sitting without use. The previous owner had let it sit about 3 years without riding, so I knew when I bought it there'd be issues down the road. The input shaft had some noogies on it and I decided not to waste a new drive shaft on it so went ahead and had it replaced. I'm learning how to function with only one kidney now

The bike is about to undergo a couple more visual mods relating to the beak and windscreen as well as some upgrades, when time permits. I blew the front Ohlins on the last trip to Mexico so they're about to get rebuilt.

The bike has also had some mileage drop issues lately and I've done about everything to it known to man, including replacing rubber manifolds etc. The BMW technician did an ECU reprogram and updates, and says he thinks that should help as evidently there was an issue with it. I haven't had the chance to ride it yet, but it starts with less cranking and doesn't stumble when cold like it did previously. Good sign.

I fantasize about a new 1200 Adventure and will probly get one, but these are such damn good bikes I haven't been able to justify the $25K, especially as well set up for me as it is. I'll be keeping this one either way, as it's just too good.

That is still one of the best looking 1100's on this forum. I got my new 1200 GSW, finally. However, my 1100 is still my baby. I might sell her to the right buyer, if the time was right.

Thanks Diva! Amazing to me what a simplistic paint job on a tank can do for a bike's overall look. I'll have to admit I'm a bit jealous of your new watercooled baby Send me a pic sometime, or better yet shoot the 1100 for here and have the GSW in the background

Here's one with the 1150 GSA luggage set when I was testing out the kit and new-at-the-time Lumix GF2 system.

I prefer just the side cases, however the top case is nice for keeping them locked up when off the bike. I have a series of soft cases with cameras and GoPro gear that nest well in the top case.

Thanks

FYI to anyone looking for cases for the 1100's, the 1150 GSA mounts are a straight bolt on proposition and the only mod required (also for the stock 1150 as well) is to remove the rubber nub off the left side passenger peg mount that is there just to support the plastic system cases. The same mod is necessary for the standard 1150GS. BMW sells a replacement specifically for this ($$) or you can take a hacksaw and in 30 seconds remove it.

The top case mount is also specifically designed to fit the 1150 GSA or standard R1100/1150GS tailpiece, and only requires removing the grab handle.
