It has been significantly graded, is extremely soft, and has the center section rerouted so it doesnt cross the creeks to often. The trail now comes out above the bus (which is no longer there). There are no silt fences, significant drainage areas, rip rap, or anything to slow overflow down or to keep any silt out of the creek and it will be very loose and soft for quite sometime.
I understand that improvements may have needed to occur to the trail to make it easier for FS access or other needs but I also understand that this type of work would never have been allowed if it were a private contractor
Its a shame.
On the other hand it was a gorgeous day for a ride!
ehhh...they'll probly cover it with rail road ballast and send in the loggers....after that, some gates, etc.....hope not!!!

My 2 cents...........

cocksuckers!

What I heard was to repair it to FS standards.................or close it.
I have also heard that some of the private property owners have anted up on some of the work.......I think if it just stays open we are ahead........

That was my first thought, too.

It was said that the middle was rerouted, does that mean the rocky section is no longer part of the trail? Hmmn. I may have to go see this myself. Anyone up for a sat ride, we could meet ktm mike's group at 930-1030 at luck?

The re-routed section is, as you're heading down, just past the mud bog area where the trail crossed the creek. This doesnt occur anymore. Instead it now continues on the same side of the creek and comes out beside the old bus location, which is no longer there. It eliminates two creek crossings and a small section of old trail.
I'm out for this weekend as I family in town.

Lurking on your Hurricane conversation from Mid-TN.

I'll be there on the 4th or 5th and will be glad to post some pics if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Technically, yes it does. However, the last time I was there (a couple of months ago) there were closed gates at the top of Upper Shut In and on the other end when Upper Shut In connects with WC. It's a shame since it makes a nice way to get from Hot Springs back toward points west, but what can you do?

Somebody buy this before I bring another one home

I have had one of these for two years. I am not sure I can work out the title, please stop me from buying this one to ride and parting out the other.

Just a stolen bike heads-up guys and gals
I got phreakshack back in the divorce settlement, but my '92 TDM850 that was trapped in the garage has wandered off/been rustled.

Anyone who sees one in the WNC being parted out or a red one (with safety wire stitching on the fairing and a NOISY homemade 2-into-1)
Please please drop me a line!!

Or if anyone works a parts counter and anyone is looking for PARTS for a TDM

MR cycle may know (well, not really), but also check with Mary.

Booooo! Will keep an eye out for that and an ear

I have a question, does anyone have a recommendation for a wheel straightening shop? I found one over in TN, called frame straight, they do wheel repair.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

I talked to MR, also Harper, Charlotte
My buddy Sean has left MR (former Parts Mngr)
Last access was mid-December
Police report filed and as soon as I get a few minutes I'll be researching craigslist and ebay
NCDMV says no action on VIN, so it's parting out or running another bike's plates

Who is Mary?
