Yeah, it was great meeting all YFF's. Sorry I suck with names so I only remember a few. I'll get a few more next time.

Enjoyed it Russ. Good to meet you Mike. Likewise Mel, Rick, and Joyce??. Good to see you again Doug.

It would be good to meet somewhere where the music is not so loud. I know they were asked several times if the music in that room could be turned down but if it was I couldn't tell.

If you like BBQ Rubys is very good. Some of the most tender pork I have ever eaten. They also have one of the best selections of beer on tap of any place in town (at the Haw Creek location).

We could also go to one of the great Mexican places in town. Papas & Beer is my favorite but it is kind of small. I will call and see if they think they can handle 15-20 on a Thursday night.

Tequila's is also great and they have a big room that would be great for us to meet.

Suggestions and comments????

Kenny

Never been to Ruby's or Tequila's, but they sound like good choices. Papas and Beer is awesome good Mexican, and if they could handle us, that would be great too.

Like you said Kenny, getting together is the main thing, food secondary.

But good food does make it all more enjoyable!

Hey, anyone wanting to ride some good singletrack this Sunday, check out David's thread here:

Joyce and I enjoyed seeing everyone! It was too loud for me. All the sounds sort of blend (showing my age!)

The last time I saw this many strange faces was on the Post Office wall in Arkansas.

DeWayne, You're really packing on the pounds. Maybe you should try skim milk.

Thumbs down Sorry guys

We really wanted to turn up, but in the end we never made it to Lake Lure.

I said in an earlier post that Andy had been having serious issues with his coccyx, which had forced him to buy a sports bike: A nice pair

Well, by the time we got to the USA (Orlando, FL), Andy's coccyx was giving him real pain, caused by a long flight sitting in an aircraft seat. We had to call off our visit to Lake Lure, which was a real shame - we had a really nice cabin hired for three nights. We also had to scrub visiting some very good friends in Ridgeland, SC, as he didn't even feel able to drive that far. I was gutted to be honest, as I was looking forward to those parts of the holiday most of all, but there wasn't really a choice given the state he was in. We had a lot of fun in Florida anyway, so the holiday wasn't wasted, but it was a shame to be limited, and we were both looking forward to some burnt pig, Bluegrass music and meeting you guys. Maybe next year.

I heard from several people who said they wanted to do this again. The food was good at Fiddlin Pig but it was so loud we couldn't carry on any semblance of a conversation and this group likes to talk. We have decided to try something new. I hope everyone likes Mexican food as much as I do.

The next AVL-WNC-ADV dinner will be Thursday, Dec 13th at 7:00pm at my favorite Mexican restaurant, Papas & Beer. They are located in the K-mart shopping center on Brevard Rd just south of Biltmore Square Mall. They are in the little strip mall at the south corner of K-mart. Here is an article from the Mountain Xpress

I spoke to one of the owners and he said they are usually very busy from Thursday to Sunday but he would be glad to reserve us a large table if we can give a confirmation that morning as to how many inmates we expect. I know it is sometimes hard to say but if we can give him an accurate count to within say 2-3 people it would make things much easier and smoother for all involved. As I said earlier they are usually pretty busy on Thursdays. Try to post up in the last day or 2 if you think you can make it.

Hope we have as good a turnout as the last one. I think we had 22 there. It will be good to meet some more of YFF's there that couldn't make it to the last dinner.

Kenny
