Back when I was young & foolish (now I'm just old & foolish), I rode my cafe Moto Guzzi from Sacramento out to Saline Valley Hot Springs with my now wife on the back.

low bars, stiff/no travel suspension, street tires + sand/ruts

My first off road riding, and it pretty much sucked. But I'm glad for the experience...I'll see if I can round up a photo...

Have fun!

That doesn't mean there won't be obstacles in some places where we will work together to get through.

I'm going to begin a list of candidates to hold places in case we get too many people. I doubt we will, but traveling with large groups tends to slow things down even further.
Thanks! I can ride at any pace and I still enjoy the ride. Slower pace means more photos taken. Faster pace usually means I'm very sore at the end

TE610 Husqvarna btw, with a monster fuel tank on it if anyone runs short. If Mrs Fred goes, she'd be driving a Suzuki G.Vitara with 4wd, good tires and the trailer.

I would love to do the Ride, but I am not and never have been a Camper. So I guess that I am out.

I'm there! I'm applying for the vacation day...

I'd like to do this to get more DV experience and meet some FFs! I've been there many times in a cage and only passed-through once on a bike. I've been wanting to get back out there on a bike to really explore and that'd be much safer in a group than solo.

I'll be riding my KLX250 which can only do 100mi. per tank. and has minimal cargo capacity. I'll be bringing a gas can or two to try to stretch my range out to 200mi or so. I'd love to find out first-hand if I can stage a multi-day camping trip on such a small bike. Haven't done any primitive camping but I'm up for it...let's see...need a trowel and TP or I can bring some WAG bags. Can anyone pack these out for me? J/K!

You might check on camping, being a national monument they don't take kindly to just camping anywhere.

thanks for the suggestion. I've been traveling through DV for several years now and found a few great spots in remote area's that are not a problem.

There are a few rules we'd have to follow regarding how close we can camp to a road and how to handle our waste. I'll double-check that to satisfy my own curiosity...

Remote (backcountry) camping is allowed.

Check out: http://www.nps.gov/deva/planyourvisi...%20Camping.pdf for the rules.

Hey RedBull,

I would like to be listed as a maybe. I was out there solo a couple of weeks ago and found that there is some security in having others around "in case".

Lippencott

Being from Ridgecrest I should know a lot about the area, butttt I tend to ride the high country more. There is an interesting run you might look into called Lippencott. It runs from saline valley to the race track.
I am thinking of joining the ride, sounds like fun

This really sounded great until I check my calendar...I will not be through teaching until Friday afernoon on 12/7. Long drive on Friday night, but if I thought I could hook up with the group, I would give it a try.
