Actually, bluepoof posted on the F650 Chain Gang Forum that she knows of places to stay in the area {motels/hotels}.

So I am in. Since I am an old retired person, time off is not a problem for me.

Now which bike do I take?

Yep, very familiar with Lippencott. There's an open mine when you reach the top and head away from the Racetrack. Some of the pics you see are of that mine.

There are a couple of guys who are going to spend the nights in a "Spa" so I will come up with waypoints for us to meet each morning. Stay tuned....Hope you boys have GPSs

Cool2 boat person

I'll come if there are dancing girls at the spa. I'll be riding out of Escalante on the west side of Lake Powell so I'm thinking of making this an epic.

Regardiing the trash and camping. I won't be riding from the PacNwest, I'll be trailering the bike and the Missus doesn't like camping, so there will be a bit of room in the 4wd for passengers if you want to motel it, then get up early and meet with the other riders. Also, will be able to trailer the garbage out. I guess I should start building some racks or a removable plywood box on the trailer.

We would probably be staying there for a few extra days visiting all the sites that can be seen. We can bring a couple of cases of water...etc.

Thanks for the help Fred! I will probably be there a day before and a day after also. I can point out some extra places to hit.

Hey! You're Golden! Would really like to get to know the general area and make it down there at least a couple of times a year. I dunno why but the desert just nails me with it's beauty.

I know it's early but does Beatty sound like a good place to meet?

If we're talking about meeting a day before, sure no problem. It probably won't be the place where we meet as a group on Friday.

There's a lot of lodging options in and around the park...everything's just pretty far apart from everything else.

In the park, besides the campsites at Furnace Creek and Stovepipe Wells, there are motels in Furnace Creek and Stovepipe Wells. Outside the park there is Panamint Springs to the West of Stovepipe Wells and the town of Beatty to the East of Stovepipe Wells.

Gas is available at Furnace Creek and Stovepipe Wells. There is a well-stocked market at Stovepipe Wells. I think the Chevron in Furnace Creek has a mini-mart in it.

South of the park, the town of Shoshone has food, gas, and lodging. It's a bit of a ride but Bad Water is along the way.

West of the park, Lone Pine has food, gas, and lodging. Haven't been through Olancha in a long time so I can't say what's available there.

I was planning on taking my KLX250 but if you guys bring your F650GS I might do the same...

Great pics! I really like that shot of Ubehebe Crater. When I was there it was cold and overcast so my photos were kinda dreary. I hope I get a chance to take some better pics.

I'll waffle about taking my F650GS versus XT225 probably up until the minute I leave.

Take the F650GS! Take the F650GS!

Hey, I was at your site the other day looking for pics of SV650s to help locate likely mounting locations for a GPS a friend wants to install of his SV650S

My KLX will be better off-road than my F650GS but the 650 will carry all my gear without any trouble at all...decisions, decisions.
