Tom, put me down as a "weak yes", just have to find someone to ride with me from socal.

Just came back this morning from the Sierra Nevada ds riding. Blair and the other guys were there on their jeeps. The trails were brutal and the elevation was over 10K. If the lungs can survive, the carb can't!

Hope to see you nocal guys. I'll see if I can bring along some inmates from the south.

Hey. Give me a heads up. If you take the XT225, I will ride my TW200. If you take the F650GS, I then have to decide between my GS or my Funduro.

Not mine, but except for the front rack, mine will be close to the one pictured by December.

We could link up somewhere and ride down in a group. Probably four or five may be going.

I'll be bringing my uh F650GS. Easy choice for me! See how simple my life is?

This looks like fun times.

So I'm working on the route and I'm hesitant to add Lippencott to our route due to the narrow switchbacks and dropoffs.

How do you guys feel about this road? There is another route but it adds MANY miles - in fact, I need to check whether the mileage is doable on a bike.

The road does not look too bad as long as there are NO steep grades, especially down grades. The section in the photos look fairly straight. Are there switchbacks and tight corners. Those would make a big difference. If the corners are big sweepers then I am okay with that.

More miles doesn't bother me either, unless we all run out of gas.

But that is just my opinion.

Your pics are awesome, thanks for posting them.

Thinking of trucking my bike. Leave it at basecamp, with other folks. Return to camp on Sunday before heading home.

It's never very steep, but there are fairly tight (for a truck) switchbacks. The other issue is the washouts once you hit bottom.

More pics....

washouts after you climb down.

Lippencott from another angle, there are some steep drops in certain places.

another angle.....and just got an earthquake...

wow, that was fairly strong!

Redbull Addict,

Have you decided on a Base Camp or initial starting point?

The earthquake was one small jolt here in Stockton, but we are usually a long way from the epicenters.

OK, things have calmed down. My phone doesn't work but internet does.

No decision on base camp or starting point yet. I'm still trying to figure out what loops we can do that are within our abilities. Where we can camp, how close to gas stations, etc.
