Hey Oscar!

Welcome to the site. I hope you'll get busy posting and sharing stories of your adventures with us. As to your question, yes - most of us are from the western part of the world. Very few militant Islam supporters or Taliban supporters here...

The Dakars mine, the XR650 was just borrowed for the day (& street legal in NZ).
The Honda was a absolute weapon on the gravel - yeeehar!
From an ADV point of view the XR seat is a cruel and unusual punishment.........

About half an hour after this picture was taken, I had a head on with a wingnut driving a stationwagon (blind corner, narrow road etc.). It woulda been ok if the dork hadn't of slammed his brakes on, causing his car to sledge in the gravel...right in front of me.

Anyway, minor damage to me and the DAK, it's just been repaired, but I'm still mending.

Cheers
Oscar

Welcome, not a lot of folks from your neck of the woods. We understand that is because they are all out with the sheep

Welcome Oscar! As you spend time hangin' out here you will get to know some of the more militant posters although none Islamic! One of the best places you can find on the web if you want to caht about GS's, Islam being a peaceful religion, how the world can be saved and tons of other problems that the free world is still trying to resolve. In here with folsk like cRash, fish and few other we seem to have out handle on most things :):

Jeez, a sheep joke - never heard one of those before...

Even the bloody aussies tell them, and they got more sheep than we have.

Forgive us, Jinx and I are simple folk

Love the pics. Wish my big GS could turn into a Dakar like yours when the asphalt ends.

That is a great shot. Blue skies. I am jealous.

P.S. - What is the terrain like where you ride, and what type of tire (tyre?) are you using? You first pic looked like you had a fairly aggressive tread mounted on the Dakar. And I am not so much simple as, well, fuck, it's a long story. Cheers.
Man, NZ is off road heaven.
In the Waikato, where I live it's rolling grass land, craggy coasts and forests. From what I hear anyone from your neck of the planet would be right at home.
We have managed keep the cockies (farmers) and the forestry guys sweet so far so access is not a big problem.

The tyres are Conti TKC80's. They work on damn near any surface - I'm amazed by their grip on sealed roads.

Cheers

I am waiting to wear out my stock Sahara 3's and looking for a more "off road" replacement. The TKC80's have been at the top of my list. Have you tried them in the wet yet? I am not looking for "GP Intermediate" type performance, just to find out if there are any serious vices. TIA.
Well, we do get a little bit of rain here.....
The TKC's are good in the wet (bearing in mind that they ARE knobblies).
