Which is great that I was using it as a novelty, and not under pressure. The constant blinking thing isnt very intuitive, it would be great if it gave a beep or something as a confirmation of an accepted button press.

It's not about the button press. It's about reading the manual and understanding exactly how it works. You have to give it enough time to send the OK message, which you probably didn't do. And there are other things you have to understand about how it works if you want it to do what it's designed to do.

Yes, its about reading the manual... which I did, a few times, and it isnt exactly to the point on some of the stuff.

So you can stop beating me with the RTFM stick and just realize that some people have some user issues with it. Did i say the machine was flawed? No.

Chill.

Just ordered a SPOT2 from Cabela's... On sale $99.00 and I had free shipping coupons and Cabelas points/dollars covered the cost.
Now.... to find someone who likes me enough to come-up with the $100 yearly fee and I'll be covered.
Feeli'n more secure already !

I've learned to just press and hold a button for at least 5 seconds and no worries. Flashing every time

Green Dot in Spot Connect App

Does anyone know what the green dot signifies in the Connect app for iOS?

In the morning before I get underway, I select the tracking function and then push the OK msg. After the OK msg gets out the SPOT automatically goes back to tracking function. Same thing happens if you send an OK msg during the day. Just light the OK button and tracking will start up again once the OK msg is out.

A quick question...
Does the OK function send location to the receipents? Or just OK somewhere?
This may be addressed on here but not able to find it in search...

Yes it does send the current location to the recipients on your 'Ok' list.

On the assumption you don't own a SPOT device here's a screen shot of the email link an OK button sends:

The green arrow was my location when I pressed OK. Note, this is the google maps link; the message gives 2 options for viewing location--a SPOT map and a google map. The SPOT map will only work for 30 days (I think). This is from June 2012 and will now only show up on google's map.

The text message also includes links as well as lat/longitude info for your location, but I only have dumb phones and have never tried the link in a sms message from my SPOT device.

PN60W & Connect for sale

I just contacted Spot and cancelled my contract with them. I had the system for about a year and never used it. (Left rotator cuff surgery followed by a herniated disc L4/L5 has kept me off the dirt). If anyone is interested I would like to sell the set, with the RAM holders, but not the bar mounts, plus a set of Topo 9 maps. The PN60W has had an additional 16 gig microSD card added to it. I have installed all the western states onto it.

If interested, please PM me with an offer.

I should mention that I have used the PN60W mounted on my 650 Dakar and now on my '82 R100RT hack. It works and tracks beautifully. When setup it "talked" with the connect perfectly. I'll see if I can attach a pic of the two units mounted on the hack.

Thanks for the explanation of "OK"

Here's an example of the OK messages as displayed on my "trip" page on SpotWalla.

Got the SPOT2 activated and mounted. Worked like a champ for the OK messages in several locations without cell service.

Just what I expected....

Made several adjustments with the mounting, XR400's don't have a large workable surface for a dash-board. Not !00% flat mounting but close enough... for me.
