Minimalist tour

Time to have one. Do we "do-it" as a stand alone event, or raid another DS event ? Two fiddy max displacement, eh ?

The time for planning is now before the next season begins up here in the cold cold North....

Suggestions ?
Blimpman ?
Klay ?
anybody....?

Coop, you know I'll be in, my DR250SE will be ready for next year.

Nobody really jumped on it last year when brought up. Let's do a roll call and find out where everybody is at. Hopefully, everyone has their state in their username location.

I'm sort of thinking Kentucky/Tennessee/W. Va for those in the east. Might have to have 2. One in the west one in the east.

As I recall it came up in mid-season. In my house if you don't 'reserve' your weekends early, you get OBE (overcome by events...). So far I've got a clean calendar in 08. Come to think of it, I don't even have a calendar for 08.

WVa has some of the best riding on the planet. Blimpman has a collection of routes in SE Ohio which are good as well. We'll get him in the discussion asap.

Sounds like an idea... *IF* I can take my KLR... wife rides an XT-225 and I know she'd not go without me (aint we cute ;-).

A lot will depend on where, and whether we can fit it in..

We've got 3 XTs tucked in amongst the BMWs here; it'd be a big maybe because vacation time is so tight, but please keep me posted. Thanks

I'm inclined to go along with such an event. Of course it'll depend on timing and circumstances. SE Ohio is a great place to go exploring. The 200 is running like new.

I love the idea of a Minimal event! I'm in for this. Kentucky, W.VA, western PA, something in the mountains. Let's keep this idea rolling!!

So my DR350 would be too big?! I'm pretty sure you would let me ride along if I geared it down a tooth in the front

Keep me posted as I love WV riding.

WVA would be nice. Spring comes a little late to the highlands, so that would be good too.

The Adv Rider annual rallies are easy to sort out.

I would think our goal would be to get the maximum number of MT riders together so I don't care whether we tag on or not.

So as a starting point we have to do a roll call. Who will really make the effort to support such an event. Maybe we'll have to keep this bumped so it isn't missed.

Then pick a central location with adequate accommodations and an area worth riding to see. Let's see some suggestions.

When, hmmm, I would like to see something other than a holiday weekend, please!

Absolutely. No holiday weekends. Too much going on.

The esteemed Gunny USMC is thinking of going "global" (make-wise) on the 08 KLRfest.
See intro thread here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=273428

He's proposing Allegheny Nat'l Forrest on a non-holiday weekend. I know some are concentrating on WVa, but it's a consideration.

Are you thinking of this as primarily an off road dual sport event or would street bikes (e.g. Ninja 250) be qualified?
