Green and White Mountains, fishing and camping

Heading out of Boston at 5am for a fishing trip, there is a lot of incoming traffic at that time in the morning.

After riding and fishing all day, set up camp.

Head back out in the morning.

I would call that the Zombie Apocalypse setup. I purposefully included everything I thought I could ever use, just to get a feel for what I could leave behind. Future trips will be much lighter.

Motorcyclist Magazine covered this "new Z" in the latest issue. They said it'll have an engine more akin to the 998cc ZX-10R--A "full power" naked.

Right next to that article was speculation of a Honda VFR800 naked.

Full power?

Mine is pretty damn "full power" to me.

Stupid magazines.

Full power... as opposed to the more common "de-tuned" state of tuning common among liter naked bikes.

They are ignoring the fact that Kawasaki's 1043cc engine is not a de-tuned engine. It was purposely built for the Z1000 and Z1000SX

The "not a literbike hand me down" engine is the best part of the z. Why would they change it for some peaky super bike engine? Sure it'll pull hard from 120MPH but who the hell wants to go that fast on a naked bike anyway?

Bummer. Don't get it. That 1043 is a badass motor and something that is the best mix of sport and real world in an I4 that I have ridden - certainly haven't ridden that many though.

The real question though, is what motor makes this a better bike? I can't see how a higher revving, less torque in lower rpms supersport motor makes this bike better or more fun on the street for every day and spirited riding than the 1043.

In a way, I hope that people love it and the 1043's become less desirable and cheaper on the resale market by the time I have some scratch to buy one.

Don't get it. Also, what happens to the ninja 1000? Other than racing, Kaw usually has multiple platforms for a motor. Maybe the versys 1k in the US? A connie light more touring than the ninja?

Me thinks the magazines like usual don't have a clue. The Z and Ninja are the same bike except for the plastic and assorted trim. I doubt Kawasaki will change that since it gives them some economy of scale on the hard parts. The new Ninja 1000 didn't get a Z-10 like motor, it got an even better version of what we have now.
