As for the sound of an Akrapovic, one word, SWEET!!!!!!!!!!

Buddy has a stock, street legal, Akrapovic on his Megamoto that is just honey sounding. Barotone, mellow, and throaty yet, obviously, very street worthy. As for the uncorked versions, they are definitely loud. Not Remous loud though. More in line with the Leo Vince sound, IMO.

Just have to step in here. I am English. Therefore what I speak defines English. I never considered that Shardzero's English is anything other than the Queen's.

Yes, I love the sound of the Akra on the Megamoto! But one of the tech's at the BMW shop said he heard the one on the X and thought it was too harsh and loud. He allowed that it might have been because it was inside though.

My Remus is just too loud to ride in polite company so I swap the stock back in for street/non-competitive rides. I'm hoping the Akra is the answer (and that I can find a deal on one ). :fingerscrossed

From the pictures it looks physically a lot smaller than even the other aftermarket cans I've seen for the X. What percentage size of the stock one would you estimate it is?

I live out of town, and the people who live in town know when I'm going for a ride. If you keep it at a steady 1/3 throttle, it's not bad, but when you twist it, it's loud.
I had an FMF Ti-4 on my DRZ and this Scorpion is alsmost as loud. Think 4 stroke Motocrosser.

The pipe sticks out a bit furthur than the stocker, hence the turn signal modification. But, it's diameter is probably half as big as the stock pipe.

That is because the only current available Akra is the free non-homologated version. The 'street legal' version is not yet available... In my BMW list it says 'forseen later' for about two years now

Dang Rob, that's too loud for me... Doesn't anyone make a pipe for this bike that's not LOUD...

SteveRed, any word on how the Staintune sounds?

Btw, my dealer quoted me $1500CAD or so for the BMW supplied Akrapovic and that's without a header pipe, just the slip on.. I don't think so.

Ya. BMW does. It's the choked up pipe that comes with the bike...
