Bark busters
Headlight guard, just in case you get a flying pebble ..
large TT engine guard
tail tidy mod

the rest is pretty much fluff... and i'm very good at adding it to mine!

Oh, its not the price that effected my purchase of springs it felt wasteful to remove <10k forks.

I agree; barkbusters (magura mounts), Headlight guard or extended fender, large engine guard (i'd get the rally one now). The TT tail guard takes a while to fit and requires the LED indicators. I fitted it because my stock indicators filled with water and shorted so I got it all to match.

If you are tall a pair of risers are helpful (I am 186 and use TT 2cm risers, comfortable).

I would also fit some 'knobbly' tyres. I have MT18s or 21s I forget and they are very hard wearing.

Cosmetically you can protect the fuel tank from your enduro boot with the aluminium guard.

The big fuel tanks (2 choices; TT or Max Kools rear tank) are great for covering longer distances; with them both you could ride 700km nonstop.

I have a deposit down on the 690 BUT there could be a deal in the works that I might not be able to turn down, it would save me A LOT. I am not sure if the 690 would be worth an extra 4K!

add
Rear grab handles

Cool, good for you! $4k buys lots of extras Even though the X is new, the motor is bullet proof.

If this pans out I will be saving the money in the old pocket
time will tell, I do like the 690 better BUT I don't think I can pass up a savings of 3500-4000 for a "street" bike and I have heard real good things from friends who own the BMW. I never thought in a million years I would say I "might" own a BMW

I was against owning a BMW myself , but the X isnt the typical BMW.
Its like the redheaded dirty step child, so the usual BMW sheep stay away

Now you dont have to type in orange when the motor goes south on the KTM

The foot on my kickstand seems really small. Looks to me like my XCH will take a few more naps than I wish unless I do something. TT has a bigger foot for the silver (I assume aluminum) kickstand, but my machine is a newer build with the black steel kickstand, the one with the toe loop. I assume this is the same kickstand the X Country uses only longer. Anyone find a foot for this?

The TT fat foot for the silver stand which is what I go is goddam useless. The holes don't line up, and it doesn't even fit properly. I had to drill new holes and use a grinder to make it fit.. total waste of money.

For the black one, if you have access to a welder, i'd weld on a wider foot, disconnect the battery first.

GB, I've never heard you sound that pissed off before. Let me guess TT BO forever & then when it finally shows up it is shite?

Thanks for the heads up on the TT part & the advice.

Question Windshield

Here's my dilemma. Have a BIG trip coming up in a little over a month. Need decent windshield for the X challenge.

Have had the Hyde racing windscreen on order since Jan. 15th. Called up Jay this morning and he informed me another 6 weeks for shipment. I can't wait that long.

Levity informed me to use a laminar lip off of the Funduro. Don't know if that is really going to work and don't want to waste $85.

Anybody have any other idea's for a windscreen? I will be patiently waiting for replies.

Thanks

J

I've spent thousands of dollars on TT farkles over the years, and although most, if not all are always on backorder and outrageously priced, they all fit properly and performed their intended function. Here's an example of $35 wasted. Maybe the casting on my sidestand is off, but I could not get it to fit and I know for sure that the side stand is going to be sinking into the ground, so I really needed to have something to prevent X naps.

Which headlight cover are you guys using....the TT model seems like it would still allow smaller rocks to get through.
