Is it just me or do the bottom sides of the tank look awfully unsupported laterally and the petcocks look awfully exposed?

The petcocks are on the inside, out of harm's way. And besides, they have to be somewhere, don't they? And below the radiator you see the TT radiator brace, which will work as a lateral support for the tank as well.

It don't see anything awfull.

I had the big ass IMS tank on my KLR. I never mounted the front bracing which allowed the tank to flex somewhat on contact. If I had the front of the tank braced against the radiator frame, it would have damaged it. Several off road biffs later, no damage at all.

Looking forward to SteveRed's pictorial of the tank off and on the bike and how it will be plumbed to the main tank. Take lots of pics!!

Ahh, I see the brace now that you pointed it out, thanks. The petcocks just look a little susceptable to things flung off the front wheel.

Does that big tank allow access to the air filter? Looks to me like you'd have to pull the tank to clean the filter.

You'd have to pull the tank to get to the air filter.. My guess it's not overly complicated, but it remains to be seen how the tank attaches to the bike and how the fuel is hooked up.

As for the exposed petcocks, leave it to Touratech to come up with an accessory cage for them.

Well, I went to the IMS show in Seattle and TT had the tank on display.
According to TT, the tank will hold 16 liters; cost around $800.00 to $900.00 here in the US and will be available within the next two months.

What I noticed: It is of white color but you can look through it to check the fuel level.
It is equipped with two petcock's at the lowest possible point(check attached pic's) and will be conected to the main tank.

Hope that helps.

Well i wish you hadnt posted these pics. I have been watching the XChallenge movement. I now have to buy one of these things and order another 2 page TT order totaling almost as much as the bike. The good news is BMW has 1.9% financing on the bike.

Any word on TT bags?

In the TT PDF upadate to their catalog they show Zega panniers and mounts will be available next year. Romona is shown testing them in Africa when TT boss Herbert and her new hubby was testing the pre-production F800GS there.

Did Romona snatch Up old Herbert from TT? What about Wiggy or Ziggy or what ever his name is that she rode around the world with?

Astrid had a few gray hairs and a few more lines around her eyes.. Herbert must have traded her in for a younger and newer model. From the TT DVD's that I've seen, Astrid is a better rider.. and I thought she's more attractive.

Those women always in the end go for the guy with all the money. Its a shame. I dont know whow they sleep at night. I had to trick mine into a wedding and she hasnt left me yet, but time will tell.

Woody's Wheels

Hey guys... Need a volunteer!? Woody says he may be interested in building some alloy Billet hubs for the X-Challenge to superlace onto some sexy excel rims. However he needs a doner bike to measure up! http://www.advrider.com/forums/priva...m&pmid=2164656

Someone take two steps forward please.. Or everyone else take two steps back! This is for the good of the GX community

Cheers
