Everyone OK after the severe weather today? Stormed bad here at Waverly, but no tornados that I know of.

Other things to consider with MX bikes...

Limited oil capacity for long hauls

You'll be needing a spark arrester for Wayne and Perry

No cush (shock absorbtion) in drive train. Long road rides can eat up clutch basket fingers and be hard on the transmission after a period of time, more-so with more street oriented tires that won't slip with the pulses of the motor. A soft flexible knobby would be like a cush drive

You'll need a lighting coil

You'll need to fab or find an aftrermarket kickstand

I think some come with 19" rear tires which may limit your selection of rubbers

Seats carved from knotty pine

Suspension may be harsh

Motor may be harder to manage in technical situaltions

Some airboxes are nowhere near Meef proof, look for low air inlets that can suck in the Walholding River.

And remember if you're an off-road rookie, the tighter the trail, the smaller the bike you'll want. Power and or weight = quick exhaustion. The bigger the bike, the wider the trails you'll end up riding. You need to look at what terrain you plan to ride.
Precisely what I was after. I've rode offroad. At my own pace though or with others not so willing to go fast/get injured/take any chance at damage. I've only really had the 2 strokes over the years offroad, on off switch throttles unless you run one real rich then it bogs and surges. Are the 4 strokes as bad?

No, not even close.

In fact the new KTM XC 2stk bikes feel more like the old four strokes, nice wide usable power spread.
