Hate to bring the GSA if you are planning any dirt or the 690 if you are planning all highway. Also don't think the butt can take another long ride on the KTMs this weekend so BMW would be my preference, if you care.
I should be able to ride for a while and can do lunch on Saturday. I was just at IP so maybe we could set a time to meet at the Valero gas station South of Sugar Grove if other folks want to hit IP first.

Not really. You guys are more than welcome to come out and play and I'd be up for the RR bed and maybe even show you the top secrete trail I started.

As for Saturday I may be transporting the KTM for a valve check and to get the carb jetting checked. Still trying to find someplace closer than Wally to do it but so far that's been a wash. So if I have to drive it all the way to Wallies' it will pretty much eat up my whole Saturday unless I go tomorrow.

Edit: Okay, NW said all they can do is ensure it is set to stock. Called Craig and he's checking some numbers and hopefully will call back tomorrow.

Hi, from Holmes co. Been lurking for a while, reading, dreaming, drooling.... Been riding for the 8yrs, mostly street, some off road. Found I now have a lot of time on my hands and would like to do some duel sporting. Need some advice first before I get in over my head( a habbit of mine). Im 5'-6" 31"inseam and want to get a bike I can handle/learn on. Prob. no less than 450cc motor as I would also like to do some off road camping. Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated. Jon

Is duel sport like jousting? Okay I got my laugh. Nothing less than a 450cc? I suspect you are thinking in terms of cruisers not off road bikes. The main love bike right now is the WRr250.

This, some guys love their bigger bikes, but for Ohio, a 250 is plenty to trail and road ride with, I don't know how much gear you plan on taking campiing, but properly packed, i can take a tent, cooking gear, and food for several days on my KLR 250.

That would be one of the safest things Ive done on a bike. When your young stupid doesnt hurt like it does when you get older. How are the 250s on the street? I understand they are easy to handle in the woods.

Well...we had a good days ride, Mikef met me at my place this morning, we got lost on the way to Danville, met Alan and Meef (who was on his Strom didn't ride any with us) and on a great spur of the moment decision from Alan, headed to Perry. (After playing on the ususal suspect roads in Danville, where I forgot what gear I was in on SQ, stalled, and dropped my KLR while trying to kickstart it, breaking the mirror off and tweaking my clutch lever)

Perry was a blast, it's the first time I have been, and since it's only 50 miles and some change from my house, I'll be going back..Mike and I both had pretty wasted 50/50 tires and got around alright. There was some super sloppy stuff, but most of it had bypasses if you are creative.

Mike was slightly less creative here...I think that Alan's words were, "That's a good line"

We ended the day with a pretty spectacular get off on my part....I way misjudged my speed on a short, steep hill climb, tried to keep on it, lifted the front end at the summit, and ended up bailing when i figured out I had used up my limited talent. I was airborne for long enough to anticipate what bones would break depending on how I was going to land, luckily I landed in a bunch of soft leaves and ended up with a sorta bruised shoulder and a very bruised ego...

Oh and I have a sweet custom bend on my bars now and I think my tach is about to explode, it makes a weird grinding above 7k

They do well. I've been cruising at 60 and been blown off by a WR250R. My only bike is a kickstart only KLR 250 and I ride the damn thing everywhere.

Thought 250 might be too small, but dont know. Ive been riding a costomized XR 200, but didnt think it would handle gear and off roading. Might be some of the work done to it that makes it that way.
