Several years ago I heard they are a union shop but you have to work there 6 months or so to get in the union; they fire people right before the 6 month period to save on costs of higher pay, benefits, etc.

Well maybe that is the reason they are constanly looking for workers,. They advertise in the newspaper and on billboards for workers.

Anyone have any problems with Bates 8in side-zip duty boots, for everyday use, They are on sale and have held up well in the past for me (lazy state worker) just not sure they can handle my line of work now (less lazy tire monkey) like they did then.

Silly girl, they don't play hockey in Texas. Nice body check though. Glad she's ok.

Yes the turnover rate is high. I started working there about 2 months ago with about 20 other people and there is currently only 2 other guys left in my class. Long shifts and high standards are tough to endure. I plan on finding a better job or at least changing positions as soon as I can. Meef is mostly correct. At the end of your "120 day probationary period" before you enter the union, they review your attendance, performance, etc., and most people are let go. They also hire many people right before the holidays since so much of their sales are during a 2 month period, then lay off just about anyone who isn't doing perfect. It's a tough job, but $500 a week is pretty hard to find for an 18 year old kid. Plus the extra $ means more bike parts.

2013 Ride Planning, Need Destination Ideas

Good morning all! I'm making a commitment to ride more this year, each summer I come up with lame excuses that keep me off my bike more than I should have. I am in Dayton (SW Ohio). Like all of us here I love the long winding country roads. I want to map out some day trips and even a few 2-3 day trips with camping. I like the idea of having a unique destination to discover and photograph, like historical sites unique landscapes, etc. Is there a TOP 10 list you can help me with? (like ride to Hocking Hills and stay here ....... etc)

Thanks in advance!

Well, if you haven't already, you owe it to yourself to check out an ADVrider rally.
BYOB is at Seneca Rocks, WV this year, June 27th-30th. It is a little more do it yourself, however you like it event. Then for the full immersion experience there is Rick's RDV down in Tennessee in May. Check em out in "ADVrider Annual Rallies".
