I've only managed one ride with it so far, but I found myself having to stab it down a gear too often for my tastes. And yeah, I feel like 6th is useless unless you are going to maintain constant speed on fairly flat ground.

my XR250R is 13/48 stock gearing, which is excellent for trails, but tops out at about 55-60 on the road. the WR250R has noticeably more oomph than the XR, so I'm guessing 65-70 is where it would top out.

The XR gearbox ratios are a fair bit lower than the WRR's to the tune of about 5% I believe.

13/47 here. Rocky Mt. was out of the 48 when I bought mine. Seems to work good. I do find myself looking for 7th gear some times. I think the 12 tooth would be ok for a day in the woods like at perry. Not good on the chain slider on the road getting there. I am going to order one the next time I order parts for those days when I know I will be in the woods all day.

Hey Matt looks like your bike will fit in this picture better this summer. We need to get a WRs only ride together this summer.

The really funny thing is that I now own the one bike there that is not a WRR........and a WRR....

I think I'm going to try a 47t rear, the more I read. I think that taller tire takes lot of oomph out of it.

14/48. I had a MT43 on the rear, took the extra oomf away & didn't notice much difference. I notice it with a Trakmaster on the rear, though. I can putt around my yard without using the clutch. I haven't rode any distance with the lower gearing & Trakmaster to get a good feel yet.

I'm running 13/54 and can still run 70MPH on GPS. I of course don't run it that fast very often since I'm running MX51 off road tires.

It makes it a lot easier to ride in the tight stuff without having to clutch it all the time.

I now have the flu after my trip last week. :( I can't hear a damn thing since my eustation tubes are plugged up.

I sold the itty bitty KLR. I still have Adam's old loud, obnoxious 650......for now at least. Thinking about maybe buying a big bike. I've been half ass looking for a deal on a Tiger..

I keep watching this video (call me Indypup, but Wyatt loves this one and the Drift Battle 2 one from Icon for some reason...):

And I think, gawdayum, I need one of them.....

Those videos drew bigger crowds than the bikes at the IX Center

I don't know how I stumbled on the drifting one, but Wyatt can be turbo angry, I start playing it and he chills right out. He really only cares for the urban portion of the other one. The story line stuff is dumb, but the bikes and riding are pretty fun.

Matt, here's a discussion of the gearing issue on Thumpertalk:

http://www.thumpertalk.com/topic/811...t-on-a-wr250r/

I was looking to see what the stock gearing is and found that

I've been reading the mega thread, but I figured I'd ask those who are riding our terrain, not what's 2000 miles away.

Mark, are you running a case saver with that 14t? Any clearance issues?
Yes I am, a VW Sandman case saver, which is designed for the 14t to clear it. The OEM will not fit.

Motorcyclesuperstore has gopro mounts on sale for about $20 each. And another 20% off with "zap20". Not sure what they run normally.
