I hope the OGCA shows haven't gone downhill as well. I haven't been to one of those in quite a few years, but they weren't as bad as what was described above. Unless you need a part for an antique gun, I agree, why not use the internet.

I know, it is rather silly but Yamaha wants to build that identity separately. I understand their goal, but it does spread their marketing dollars that much thinner. I must be too old to totally buy into this strategy. I personally can't imagine the Yamaha name being so toxic that they abandon it & speand millions promoting something as generic as Star......Since I am not a myopic pirate I suppose their approach is lost on me.

I bought a "Yamaha" rain suit at Iron Pony a few days ago. I noticed there was a logo sticker on the left breast. I pulled it off and it says "Star Motorcycles" underneath. For $60, I still think it's a good deal.

Now that is funny

Yea not the target market for a Star so i guess I don't get the marketing. My only guess is that many HD buyers want to "buy American" and Yamaha is definitely a Japanese name. Star may appear to be less foreign. But I can't imagine that anyone who is about to spend the money would not realize that Star is Yamaha.

Eek For your viewing pleasure...

Here's what happens when a nut falls off a connecting rod on a Kawasucki Ninja 250. :( This happened in May 2011.

This was one of my few times that I was stranded along side of the road...

The nut must not have been torqued down correctly and came loose. Lots of damage internally but never lost any oil.

Lots of companies create standalone brands for various reasons. Mostly all about marketing...

Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Infiniti for example...

Let me save you the aggravation.

The lines will be long, the prices insane, the overall sentiment of the attendees will have a strong Tea Party lean and they will happily tell anyone that will listen how wretchedly this nation is being run and how they could do it better, the place will smell like a locker room after a big game except with the addition of a cosmoline and Hoppes #9 scent, and 3/4 men will be morbidly obese wearing tee shirts proudly depicting either a) their favorite collegiate team even though they never went to college and couldn't participate in any organized sports due to their health condition and their subversive individualist mentality; or b) some military slogan and / or "Don't Tread on Me" labeled gear even though they never served anything except maybe french fries.

If you're really lucky, maybe some total mouth breathing fucktard will discharge his "unloaded" gun while he's clearing it.

I like guns. I hate gun shows.

Even a few years ago, before people were full on nuts about a ban and were trying to hoard everything, they sucked. Going now would be a fools errand. Just take the day and ride.
If some people could just keep their mouths shut we would have a lot less problems in the world. Damn mouth breathers!
