Bob, this is why I felt blessed to have been part of the Caveman riders when Holycaveman was still an active rider. We had a lot of really fun large group dual sport rides. Plus HC was a great teacher and motivator so he'd really get you to try new stuff. It was "ride what you brought", "no child left behind" and "hey, watch this" but we had fun and it wasn't a race. Faster riders took the lead and a mother hen brought up the back.
Best of all they were free but it took a lot of work and real familiarity with the trails and land owners. If you were with a good group you got a free lunch for leading and putting a good ride together. But it wasn't about the money, it was a love for the sport and desire to give back to a community that is really great.
I wonder now who will pick up the torch and carry forth the tradition of the large group ride?

I was thinking the same. I might even be in the pic and that is one of the only large rides I have been on.

You both are right, this was the meet up in Danville. Like most of the cavemen HC seemed to have just disappeared form the scene. I didn't write that to single anyone out or praise anyone. I wrote it as an alternative to the pay to ride events. I am also not saying don't try the DS rides. You can ride some awesome new ground and meet great people on them.

The guided tar hollow rides that you have put on would be great for someone wanting to get into dual sporting. Plus the price is right. ;)

We're having a birthday ride at Crow this Sunday for a friend if you are interested. Not sure if there will be any 2 strokes there for you to try.
