Knox co. humor at its best. I did get a nice ride in today before the weather got all crazy. Stone Quarry road was tricky with all the wet leaves on it.

It was pouring here so I bailed.
This will one of the few times in the last 20 years that I am going to miss the Thanksgiving morning ride as I am getting my shoulder fixed this week and will be off of the bike for 3-4 months.....

Yes it was. I do admire people who can write good...

Anybody here ever done (or plan to do) the Trans Lab Highway? I'm considering it for next sept. Kind of in the initial planning/research phase right now. It sounds like it won't be too much longer and the whole thing will be paved.

I don't know why this trip has taken such a hold on me but it's bordering on obsessive! For those of you who've taken on a trip of this distance I'd be interested in hearing any advice you'd like to share.

If you're not familiar with the TLH here's some light reading about it:

Cycra Racing's Brand Manager, Ryan Longstreth killed in a motorcycle accident on Saturday.

Good guy, was at Cycra for 18 years. I had never ridden with him, but people say he was a really great rider.

He hit a deer then a pickup truck. He was not wearing a helmet.

He leaves behind a wife and daughter.

This sucks, he was a good guy. Let's not turn this into a he was stupid for not wearing a helmet thing. We all take risks, some of us manage risks in a different way than others. The vast majority of Americans think we have a deathwish just getting on a motorcycle.

Not the Trans Lab, but, since I went up north a few years ago, I would suggest this:

James Bay Road. http://jamesbayroad.com/
-Trans-Taiga Road - 400 miles of dirt, turn around, 400 miles back

(I didn't do the Trans Taiga).

depends on whether you wanna do the harder stuff...there's workarounds for most or all of the technical sections
