envious...

Great ride report.

It whisked me away to that palapa hut instantly. What a truly fine idea for a Thanksgiving weekend. Nice to see the old Honda doing some adventure duty!

Thanks for the reassuring words about Mexico also. Having been there several times, I've had nothing but first-rate experiences, and am planning to return in February. However, the crazy stories sometimes make you think twice, which is why it's always good to hear the other side. The crazy stories seem to be the ones that get told.

Thanks!

Nice ride! I was on the other side of the Sea giving some moral support.

Can I conduct body weight training sessions on the beach?

Or, stay tuned at your favorite Flagstaff health and fitness facility for a new class suited for dual sport riders wanting top physical training. Summit H&F has a new fool with ownership in the building.

postscript: two years later

surprised when i searched the ride reports that there has not been another mention of puerto lobos since i went for thanksgiving 2007.

canyon-K and i decided to return this year, albeit on four wheels so that we could take the dogs.

the big change is that the new coastal highway is falling into place and that you can get to puerto lobos in about 2 hours, with only the last 15 miles or so on dirt. probably some time in the spring the road will stretch all the way down to puerto libertad.

unclear what it will mean long term, but the increased army presence is probably a sign of things to come. a local explained to me that they are on the look-out for marijuana shipments being brought up by boat from southern mexico.

anyways, here are some pix:

we camped the first night south of ajo, arizona...

then saturday morning a front moved in and we moved out...

yes, we took the dogs back with us.

the day started on the beach in 4wd and ended up in northern arizona in 4wd in the snow as we did the last 30 miles at 15mph up I-17 in a blizzard. wacky.

in any case, a happy graciasgiving was once again had.
