Bacon may have liked the 690SM but he swooned over the 990S

Soon he was in the party spirit

and before you know it he was taking over for Skip "What'll you have mister?"

(wonder if Bacon noticed the sandwich sign, top right?...)

JWmudd and the Popular Pig!

and of course Bacon had to get a mug shot at the ADV Sticker Door at Engel's

Well today Bacon joined a group of Softies for the lunch slide. It's called the slide because about once a month someone on a sport bike carries a little too much heat into one of the low speed twisties and low sides their bike The sun was out so today's group was heavy on cruisers -

Bacon admired Tonya and her Hog -

Hearing Simon's NZ accent reminded Bacon he was far from home -

At this point I must confess that I forgot to charge my camera battery so no more pic's - not that it matters, shortly after we assembled for the ride the clouds rolled in and all the good scenic shots were obscured. I guess I could have taken a picture in a general southerly direction and pointed out that behind cloud x stands Mt Rainer

I have to do my Taxes tomorrow so I've contacted Ratty2Austin to see if he'd be interested in Bacon tagging along on his vStrom for a ride through the foothills

Sensational Pics. Its soo nice to see everyone taking care of Bacon. Does he still have his log book with him?? When he eventually gets back to me (hopefully one day), i'd be keen to get some stats out of it.. and yes, Bacon's first love was a F650 Dakar...

The log book was still with him when I passed him on last week and I'm sure it's sticking with him. I placed it in a ziplock bag and included maps of Baja, the U.S. and Canada for everyone to highlight as Bacon Travels from place to place. They are full country maps so not terribly detailed but a good overview of where he is going. I also included a note asking who ever has him last before he leaves N. America to pull the maps out and send them on to you. I didn't include your address so I'm sure you'll be contacted as to how to send those maps It looks like everyone is logging Bacon's travels in his book.

You have a T-shirt shirt headed your way from the Desert 100, I wasn't able to go to the ride but Tantrum took care of getting Bacon there and enjoying the festivities.

Did anyone get any pictures of Bacon at the Desert 100?

Has Bacon made it through Hill Country Texas yet?

I'd be happy to drag him around on the back of the 'Busa (I am adv-bikeless, for now!) for some BBQ and sights.

Wonder how he'd do at 150+?

I will get my section of this RR done sometime tonight... but here are a few highlights of Bacon's Ride thru the sunny NorthWest yesterday!

Hanging out with Mr. Cob, Spot, Rusty and the Ural!

Bacon enjoyed the ride on the Vstrom

and Bacon got to see some really nice Mountain views

we also went to go see the Tulip Fields in Laconner!

Bacon had a good day I think

Saturday - 12 April 2008 update

The weather was just too nice to not go riding so Bacon and I decided to join Ratty2Austin, Wenduro and Rayc-J (Jenna) for a ride up north through the mountain foothills. We met at Donna's truck stop in Marysville -

Bacon had been looking for an excuse to meet up with Mr. COB and his adventure puppies and fortunately it took very little conversation to convince the group to head for COB compound in Granite Falls.

Mr. COB then guided the group to Darrington via the backroads.

We road along the Sauk River from Darrington to Concrete, stopping along the way to enjoy the view of the river and Mt. Baker -

Bacon was having a good time riding with Ratty2Austin and his date -

Just out of Concrete we stopped for lunch at Annie's Pizza Station -

After lunch we headed for the tulip fields between Mount Vernon and La Conner, we found the public Tulip Route -

The advertised route was bumper to bumper in many places so we took a different path and came across some daffodils -

Bacon finally found a tulip field to explore -

Yeah, yeah, stay out of the tulip rows -

Well, nobody ever said pigs could read

Hey, these things smell tasty

This last one reminds me of a song -

Apparently humans can't read either

Bacon slabbed it back to the WAR_house and called it a day. 234 miles, not bad considering all the photo stops that were made.

here are a few that I took- Bacon was plum wore out after 150+ miles of mixed trail and dirt road. The 'Bacon ride" even laid down for a nap at one point- you will have to ask Tony what happed.......... it laid down fast; must have been extra tired.

It looks like Bacon had an exciting Desert 100 although I'm not sure about that bungie across the snout thing Poor Bacon, but at least he stayed on the bike. It's no wonder he needed another bath by the time he got to the wet side, that Desert 100 riding is as dirty as Baja riding and he got to experience another crash, at least this time he had a helmet on. He's going to be one tuckered out piggy by the time his adventure is over.
