A brief update on bacon's travels.

Before I left work on Thursday bacon got his new 'goody bag' for keeping all his souvenirs in as he continues on his travels.

I think he was hoping to travel in style on the H-D but I soon introduced him to reality and showed where he would be sitting on the KTM for the next 10 days !

One of our customers was at a kart track in France testing his supermoto bikes. We sponsor him and I stopped off yesterday morning to see how things were going.

And of course the little piggy had to be shown around the bikes and then he wanted to have a go himself................of cours he could not reach the footrests so Olly sat him on the bike and took him out for a few laps !

It's not a very good pic but Bacon was hanging on for dear life !!!!

After a few hours playing around at the track it was time to head off to Brussels for the night.

Bacon quickly found himself a comfortable spot

But of course he had to sample some Belgian beer before settling in for the night

A bit of sightseeing this morning

And when we got to Holland he insisted we stop so he could have his photo taken at the first windmill we saw

At the moment we are having a quick bite to eat at a service station near the German border - off in a minute to find somewhere to stop tonight. More updates to follow.

It sure is good to see Bacon traveling again and having great adventures. Thanks for showing him the sights and sharing with the rest of us.

Hey guys sorry for the delay sending Bacon's kit. I had a vague promise of a free pelican case but it fell through so Bacon's bag will be going in the mail tomorrow.

It probably needs a bit of a clean out as Liquids and some pens haven't travelled as well (Perhaps we can leave them out in future). I've got it looking pretty decent and it's in a newish cotton Triumph bag.

Have Fun!

That'll be better than the Harley bag but then I'm biased.

Great travels.
Just a question. Do you always have a padded cell for the evening?

LOL - it was one of those 'ultra modern' style city centre hotels that worked out ridiculously cheap if you booked it 4 months in advance (I think it was about Ģ30).

The rest of the trip has been in a tent - I will post up more pictures and a better report when I get home next week.

But the good news is that Bacon has been passed over to Michael (MikJogg) in Germany and he has some plans for Bacon over the coming weeks.

Hey silky, if you haven't gotten the bag posted yet or there's extras to go i'll happily take it, I'm currently sat in a travelodge near manly. Plenty of space in the bag on the flight home. I've dropped you a pm with my phone number.

Well I'm back home after spending 10 days travelling around Europe - did about 2,500 miles in 11 countries before dropping Bacon off to MikJogg in the Black Forest in Germany. Had all sorts of weather from bright sunshine to snow and torrential rain.

Started out in France and met up with one of our customers who was spending a day at a go-kart track near Avranches testing his SM bikes.

Bacon got a close look at the bikes and then went out to play !

Take a careful look at behind the front brake hose !!

Then it was on to Brussels where the little oinker rapidly found a Belgian beer to enjoy

And swiftly settled in for the night

Next morning we took a look at the sights

After Belgium we moved onto Holland where bacon demanded we stop at the first windmill we saw

Then on to Arnhem - the site of one of the key airborne landings after D-Day

We visited the British cemetery - I think this part of our recent history is dissapearing from the school curriculum but it should not be forgotten.

I explained what the site was all about to Bacon - he was a bit quiet but I think he understood.

And then over the border to Germany

Bacon spotted one of the road signs and got a bit excited

A bit of nice scenery as we headed back into Belgium

We camped that night near Spa Francorchamps

Where Bacon decided to make himself comfortable ...............but not for long !

Another day another country as we popped across the border to Luxembourg

Now Bacon has been getting a bit of a reputation as a motorsports fan so we had to head to another world famous racetrack

After watching for a while he wanted to go and play on the famous Nordschleife but as I was queuing to buy a ticket the circuit was closed due to a crash. With no real idea of how long the circuit would stay closed we decided to give it a miss and move on.

Nice castle

View of the river Rhine

Before crossing the river by ferry in sight of the famous Lorelei rock

Of course being in Germany we had to sample some local food and drink that evening

Next morning I noticed that my heat shield on the bottom of my top box was not really adequate to cope with giving the bike a good thrashing on german roads..........

Popping out for a quick breather

Next border

Empty road in Czech Republic

And then on to Austria

Some of the towns in Austria have funny names !

Made it to the KTM factory

Is this the most visited town in Austria (or just the most photographed sign !!)

Nice sunset at the campsite that evening

And a nice bright sunny morning the next day

Started to head up into the mountains today - and they still had white stuff on top of them

Before we left I told Bacon I had fitted the new front brake pads myself - I think he was getting a bit worried here

Traditional alpine meadows !

Dinner - yum yum !

More mountains

Italy today

The plan was to take the Stelvio Pass over from Italy into Switzerland - I had assumed that it would be open as it is one of the major routes over the Alps - unfortunately we were wrong !

Of course we ignored the sign and headed on up the pass...........until we met the firmly locked barrier

Stopped for a few minutes to enjoy the mountains

Time to turn around and find another route ! Headed back into Switzerland before cutting back into Italy.

Found a small pass that was open but it was pretty cold and it started snowing !

Bacon wanted to play in the snow

Heading down the other side and we found a nice little bit of road

Into Lichtenstein

Bit of scenery

I was due to pass Bacon on to his new 'owner' later in the day so I thought I ought to get at least one photo of the little porker and me together !

More alpine countryside

After this we headed back into Germany and towards the Black Forest where Bacon was passed on to MikJogg.

All in all it was a great trip with our little oinker for company. We went to 11 different countries and I gave up on counting the number of times we crossed borders. A great mix of tight twisty roads with good scenery and not a lot of traffic. Great road surfaces as well.

I hosted Bacon for about 4 weeks all together and I think we had fun together. I have been following his travels since day 1 and am glad I could do my little part to help him continue his advetures.

Good luck for the future Bacon - I hope you continue to travel far and stay safe !
