Just a few photos of my 1972 R75/5

I recently got her a stablemate - a 1971 Moto Guzzi Ambassador that I should be able to post photos of soon!

I found them on eBay. Just did a search on headlight ears and found them. They're a reproduction part from a place up in Oregon - the name escapes me but they do most of their business through eBay. Took a bit of patience, but they're out there. The alloy brace means the stock ears don't work, and cutting them down just seemed ghetto. This seems to work well, and I like the look better than stock.

Thanks, I'll pull up eBay and take a look. Also, I put on of the braces on my /5 and cutting the ears down worked quite well; you can't tell its not stock at first glance. Of course, I bought a second set of ears so I didn't have to ruin my originals...

EDIT: Was it these guys by chance: headlightears?

Yep - I do believe it was them. Fit pretty well, and look really nice.

Lomax - Definately black background. See page 37 of "Original BMW air cooled boxer twins " by Ian Fallon. There is a pic of the engine badge with the quote "Engine emblems from 1972 featured a black background" for the R75/5.

Can one of you R75/5 experts tell me if the "BMW R75/5" badge on the engine is supposed to have a black background or not? I see it both ways depending on where I look.

Cheers.

My 72 R60/5 Project

my first BMW, bought off E-Bay about 7 years ago from a local seller. 1972 R60/5. Mucho deferred maintenance at that time. Rode the hell out of it for about 3 years till I got my 1974 /6 . Non-stock French blue with gold pinstripes. I intend on repainting in the same color scheme. About 85K mileage. The 5 is now in a semi restoration mode - powdercoated just about everything. Now I just need to find the time to put it all back together(especially the detail things like the wiring, switches, etc. in the headlight bucket).
