Not much different than the new Thruxton that Triumph is building. What's the problem again?

Damn, that is pretty nice. Add some swept back headers and polish the fork legs and it would be really damn nice. Add a blower and it would be righteous. Thanks for posting that, jimjib.

Chalk and cheese. The "factory" version is a hideous cartoon bike. Almost as bad as those horrible Ducati "retros"

You are seriously fucked in the head, jinx. It's the same engine. The first photo doesn't even have a damn seat on it.

"oh, if only they'd make..." and then they make and all of a sudden it's a hideous cartoon bike.

That IS the seat you tosser. But if you ask them nicely I am sure they can slap a "king & queen" with about 4" of padding on for you. Well, that and twelve more lights.

Triumph

I love those old british Cafe' racers when they're fixed up nice. I thought the new Thruxton was supposed to provide a new platform for mods. The T-bird Sport and the Truxton are great bikes. I hope to see lots of them on the Used bike ads someday.

Yeah, I would almost sell my T'bird Sport for a Thruxton...almost.
You can usually find T'bird Sports pretty cheap used. IMO the '98-'99's with the upswept exhaust are the ones to have, but I'm biased.

To me, the Thruxton does not have the classy looks of the bike I posted. Just looks like the factory did the minimum they could do to get a cafe look. On the the other hand, the top bike looks like some real thought when into it.

Do you really expect Triumph to make a hardcore cafe replica? Lets see, uncomfortable to ride, one up only, non-competative with any modern race bike, and and a few thousand to the price for top shelf components. That sounds like a viable market segment for some real profit. I am suprised that the "Bobs" at triumph didn't opt for that.

My question is, if they could get the straight back pipe look on the Thruxton, why couldn't they figure out how to do the same for the Bonneville when it came out? I always thought that the kinks in the pipes looked silly on the new Bonneville.

Zed.
