My homemade windscreen final design
Cost about $6 total. That's for two of them!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I still have a little buffeting around my head, but it's not trying to lift my helmet anymore. Front end stays stable up to 90mph.

Pics?

What I'd love to do is find someone who could use the original fairing, plus my addition, to make a mold of some sort and be able to make the whole thing as a single unit. I thought I'd try to use a fiberglass/epoxy kit and just lay it over the whole fairing to make a mold, but I don't know where to go from there. Any suggestions?

Hello i am new here and was wondering if anyone had a dakar windshield that they would be interested in selling? I have been searching everywhere for one but I cannot find one under $200.

Istewart's Home made screen
Using Mr. Stewart's template I constructed a screen using a blue recycle bin for the source plastic. Modified his design by molding the top lip ala laminar lip. The blue matches the Suzuki blue pretty good. The screen itself performs equally as well as a Screen for Bikes model (I had one of these and it shattered quite easily in a spill). Thank you Mr. Stewart!!

Glad I found this thread again. This spring I took lstewart's garbage can fairing design and took it one step further to a full fairing. See the pic. It allowed me to add a full dash as well. I hope to add a few inches of a windshield sometime as well. Thanks for the inspiration!

A Cheaper option
Not dissing SFB's, but you can make your own for about $3. Judge for yourself...

Awesome, I'm going to try making this shield/fairing this weekend.
I'm thinking of starting with a 15" x 15" sheet of white polycarbonate (1/8" thick) from TAP Plastics. Saw and sand by hand, bend with a heat gun. The sheet is a little more expensive than the garbage bin ($14) but I think it will work out to be more rigid and solid. Will let you know how it goes. |
