I have the turbocity screen too and I think it's fantastic though I'm starting to like the vertical look of the Dakar style ones. Perhaps I can use some spacers to stand her up a bit more. One of the things that tipped me toward the Turbocity screen (besides that I think they make the best of pretty much everything) was that Aeroflo makes the actual windscreen that they sell.

Where did you get that 4" deflector that you put on yours? Got a link? Sounds like a nice addition. Thanks.

Cee Bailey's XR650l Screen

Already posted in the DR650 thread and then this one popped up...
Here's my solution to the DR650 windshield question.
Started with the Cee Bailey's Screen for the Honda XR650l. Made some brackets and mounts with a friend of mine.

Here's the results:

Works really well for wind and rain. A little buffetting with the XD on over 65 mph but not bad at all. Overall I'm very happy with it...

Jeff,

The BMW Dakar shields are a very very dark tint. They almost always look black from the outside unless the sun is in back of them.

Thanks Ray, I'm going to order one today. I wonder if they can be painted.

I don't see any reason that they can't be painted....probably with the Krylon for plastic stuff if you like rattle cans.

I've also see one or two of these in "clear" on BMWs. So if you're thinking about a shield for the NX project clear might take other colors better.

Ya, I'm wanting to paint it white. So your saying that clear will paint better than tinted?

I called my buddy Jeff down at BMW of Louisville. He said that the 05 and up was a different part number than the 04 and down. I ordered one for a 2003, I think I read somewhere that thats the one that guys are using. Is this correct?

Short version? The parts list only shows 2, one in clear and one tinted, now I'm all confused. LOL

Thought I would throw this out there...I used Nylon bolts to attatch mine. In thinking the shield will be saved in a crash and the bolts will shear...the Nylon bolts can be found at Lowes along with spacers to adjust the shield to the best angle...

Jeff,

The '05 and up have 4 mounting holes, the earlier models have 3. You did good.
