Meeting

Looks like there is plenty of interest in an ice race meeting. I will set something up.

Jan 20 Meet and Greet

Looks like the ice race is being moved to 9-10 Feb 08. If it goes, we'll still have a meet and greet there. I was down scouting some locations there today.

In the mean time, it would be nice to put something together for January.

One idea might be to schedule something that "Da UP in DA Winta" guys could stop at on their way back home on Sunday, 20 Jan 08. The best location to facilitate this would be (along the interstate south of Milwaukee) on the east side of Wisconsin.

Suggestions?

Edit: Ice race date not formally changed yet. I rode down to Koshkonong and scouted out some potential meeting places for 20 Jan 08 today. More info to follow.

20 Jan 08 Meet and Greet

Did some recon work for an area ADV meet and greet for Sunday, 20 Jan 08, in conjunction with the ice races on Koshkonong. More details later on.

Overview map. The races will be held of Thiebeau Point. There is access to the ice and the point via Dallman Co Park. Bear right off Charley Bluff Road to enter the park.

There are three establishments proximate to the race site. They are Buckhorn Supper Club, JR's Tap, and DJ's Sportstop.

Buckhorn is on the lake and is right next to the park. I don't know if the race site is visible from Buckhorn though. It seems to be the best choice for ADVers to get together and perhaps get something to eat as well. I still need to make a call on this when they are open.

On a Sunday afternoon, we might not be able to gather comfortably as a group in the other two places. . .

JR's Pub

DJ's Sportstop

Time needs to be worked out yet. Although many folks will be meeting out on the ice, it would be nice to set a post race meeting time at Buckhorn.

Hopefully some of "Da UP in Da Winta" crew can stop in on their way home. (That is my plan . . .)

Dinner, food, drink works. Is this a afternoon thing or evening thing? Afternoon makes it a bit tight. I like tight, but in other areas of interest, or at least I used to!
I think, I am back in WI.

Meet and Greet Details

The meet and greet is on for Sunday, 20 Jan 08. Edit: Moved to 10 Feb 08 due to ice issues. Meet and greet is cancelled for this date.

The ice race starts at 1200 and the finish is 1500.

The Buckhorn starts serving at 1500.

Some folks will want to meet up out on the ice to watch part of the race. Some may want to just meet at the Buckhorn.

Access to the ice is via Dallman Co Park. No doubt there will be signs once you get into the park directing you where you need to go.

GPS coordinates for the park entrance:

N42 50.373 W88 58.418

It would be great to see some people we haven't met before show up for this! One of the purposes of these events is to get a chance to meet new riders. All are welcome.

This Buckhorn is located just west of Hgway 26 near Milton, WI and is off of County N. There should be a sign on County N telling you where to turn. If you are heading west on County N and hit State Hgway 59, then you passed the sign. The road you turn on should be Charley Bluff.
