Question Harry Wade Road

Harry Wade Road is off off 178 at the south end of Death Valley and connects to Owl Hole Spring Road.
Who's ridden this road? What type/s of terrain? Okay to ride solo on a XR650L?

Tried searching but came up empty.

Thanx.

It's a dirt freeway, no problem for a 650L: flat, some sandy spots, some gravel spots, one stream crossing (a few inches or no water depending on season), lotsa washboard. I've used it multiple times on a fully-loaded GS going to DVD.

Ran it last year on a 98 tiger with balding anakees without a problem.

Thumb

Cool. That's what it looked like on the north end; looks like a fun alternate route to DV from the south.

Just remember, the speed limit for dirt roads in Death Valley is 25 mph.

Watch out for a large cross-rut a few miles from the south end of this road. I came upon it too fast a year ago. I was able to pull the front end over it, but my rear wheel took the beating! I'm sure if you're doing the posted speed limit you'll be able to see it coming. Just sayin'.........

Done it a few times, just like they said.

There's no services whatsoever so remember to plan accordingly

I rode that south after a night of rain in Jan '05. The Amargosa River was 18" deep & 20' wide. Not real bad. The road was fast & smooth & packed w/ no dust. I was lucky. I didn't see another person except for the 2 guys that had stalled their pickup after/during the water crossing.
