This has been/is a great ongoing thread. Here's another vertical jobbie from atop a bridge near Utiku, Central North Island NZ. If you look carefully in the bottom of the frame there's a smashed Toshiba Laptop. See HERE for the full story. There are two mpg movies, both only 2.5 mb each.

To view the movies, you need to have an MPEG1-capable player like Windows Media Player or Quicktime installed.

No creatures were harmed in the making of the movie.

A Scottish Contribution to the Thread

This was taken with a Canon Ixus and stitched together. No Fuss no muss!

The Isle of Skye in Scotland on the road to the Glenelg Ferry.

Muir Beach

Near the Pelican Inn off Hwy 1 in the bay area is Muir beach - see here.
Pic taken with Canon G3 set in panorama mode, then stitched using default software that came with the camera. It does a nice job and does a decent job of solving paralax problems.

Some Laos Panoramas

Great thread - thanks all!

I'm not thrilled with the exposure on some of these, but I like panoramas 'cause they can remind me of the scope of the view better than a single frame. For years I would come on vistas on my rides and know I could never capture them. Now I can sorta begin to.

Laos: Wat Phu

Laos: Si Phan Done waterfalls

Laos: near Vang Vieng

Laos: near Luang Prabang

Laos: Switchbacks on way to Plain of Jars

Analog Panoramas...

Years ago, my brother and I shared a very special camera called a "Globuscope". This camera used 35mm film and had a fascinating rotating action. Through an oil-damped spring in the handle, the top of the camera rotated a complete 360 degrees, all the while keeping the aperature open. The camera was superbly constructed of brushed stainless steel. It vaguely resembled a wehrmacht "potato masher" hand grenade.

This marvel of engineering took spectacular 360 degree panoramas! Alas, this technology was eclipsed by digital cameras and image stitching. So now, this camera languishes while my brother uses digital cameras to create his panoramic photos.
