Due to my Strom-mixing build, i had some experience with v-Strom wheels in 2008/2009, see http://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/board,82.0.html

- all rear rims are virtually the same, share 6204 bearing and spacers. ABS doesnīt matter, even the brake dics are the same ones. Spacers are the same dimension, even while they added an ABS sensor. Sprocket carrier for 650 and thou is little different due to the corrected offset ( "Master Mike Spacers" )
- front rims 2002-2006 are all the same, sharing 6204 bearings for 650 and thou. Thou is still the same all years.
- front rims 2007-2011 on the 650 are 6203 bearings and smaller axle, but share the Speedo - spacer-wise itīs also the same

All V-Strom -2011 have 204mm wide Steering stem ( some say, 203,8mm )

650 model 2012 has changed somehow - donīt know things exactly, yet. But they changed Speedo from front wheel to sprocket, so be prepared for different spacers.

You dont wanna build spoked rims with ABS, do you ?

Am ordering a set of hubs, rims and spokes for a 2006 DL 1000.

Anyone played off road with them?

Took mine for a bit of a spin on some fire roads the other day. Nothing to report so I figure all good, although I only have a RAD rear wheel.

Ordered a set of hubs from Rad tonight for the 1000, tried to order a set of stringed rims but crap they are slack with their communication.

Will look elsewhere for a 18" X 2.75" rear rim and 21" X 2.15" front rim...any suggestions??

funny how the guy that started this thread and collaborated with RAD in the outcome of an improved version of these hubs,,,,get's lost in the shuffle

if you have the hubs Buchannans in california or yours truly could assist you in fulfilling your dreams....we have most everything in stock,,what color ya want ??? what rim sizes ya want???,,after LISTENING to your vision we make different recommendations based on not only where ,,,how hard ya ride but also your aesthetic and $$$ requiremnets/....

G'day Woody,

Have you sighted a 2012 Vstrom 650 yet and are there any changes that will make you unable to fit the existing spoked wheel solution you have engineered to it? I'm interested in a set of spoked wheels for my 2012. Not sure if you have engineered a hub to incorporate the ABS ring (like you are doing for the Super Ten as have followed that thread closely)?

Cheers

Wilmo

I'm up here in Alaska. I mounted a set of Mitas on a buddies V Strom 1000 with Woody's wire wheels last July. Sorry for the scratches Woody, Mitas are stiff. I don't know if he took it with him or sold it up here, but it looked pretty damn sweet with the wire wheels.

I would love a plug-n-play ABS / Wire wheel solution for my 2012 Vstrom. The best I can tell the RAD hub diameter won't work with the ABS bikes.

Here were some challenges that I read about.
