Ya no doubt. I've run across a few out west and they go go for a real pretty penny. I think I'm overreaching a bit on a plated 300. As a second bike (woods) ill settle on the best deal I can get. It'll probably be a Honda as I can get a decent deal on parts for them through work. Ok, thread hijack over.

hey, can you work on Honda to finally build a sweet dual-sport? Legal, E-start 6-speed XR650/450R would be a good start!

(it's not like they don't have know-how & the parts laying around to do so...)

Speaking of Hondas.....

Hey Gaston! What ever became of Clifford?

I've been trying to learn a little pic editing and ol Clifford got to be a test subject.

Original

Fake HDR

...and with a little de-saturation...

Did you fix him, sell him, junk him...or he is just being used as a drying rack?

Clifford is at Fun Cycles. He's ready to roll, but I have been too busy kayaking to go get him. He had a valve seat that came out of its nesting spot, about 1mm. New exhaust valve seats, new exhaust valves, new rings and gaskets all around.

What to do with an extra dual sport bike??? He'll be around here for a while at least. Piston Pants is slated to show up.

Here's what Layla did on Monday when I was at work. Nitro burning funny car action at the Devil's Dragstrip. This is the creek that you come to after going over Old House Gap.

That woman is whacky!

p.s. CLICK HERE for a "fake HDR" version of the 2nd pic....
I'm not sure I like that full HDR effect or not....I think a little less extreme may be more to my tastes.

When's he planning to be here?

I've got a feeling that when the two of you get together a chaperone may be necessary!

The first week of April. It's still a bit up in the air. Keeping my fingers crossed.

"Good motorcycle dealer" is becoming an oxymoron, I'm afraid. The BMW dealer in Greensboro is excellent, though, in my experience.
isn't Fun Cycles in Valdese an Orange Koolaid distributer?

I've only stopped for aoods and ends myseld so I can't speak to service there ... my service dept is in my garage downstairs

Fun Cycles

yep if you want something in Orange then Fun Cycles in the place. i've been dealing with them for years. Scott in the service dept. is a great guy and Robbie the mechanic is a solid mechanic particularly good with KTM's.

Doc at the parts desk is also a good guy but i've had less experience with him than Scott.

i'd take a look, i hear they just got 2 new 690 enduro's AND have 2 300EXC's in stock!!!

Where are you gonna take him riding?

Do you think he'll have time for things like Caney Fork and or Virginia?

Or will you just have to play around locally?...not that that's bad.

Not any more. I bought 'em all! I have to concur. I don't even own a KTM, and these guys treat me right. Not too convenient to Greensboro, however.

We skyped last night. He's hee hawing about the whole deal and all the other places he needs to go while back east. So it would depend on the amount of time available, which is unclear If this snow keeps falling, I won't have a vacation left. The kayaking has been great but give me a break.

I've had mixed experience with them, but mostly good, and I'll be doing business with them in the future. Willie seems like a good guy.

I hope they are able to hang on. We're all dealing with double-digit unemployment now, but Burke County's been there for several years. Makes it hard to make a living selling toys.

Sorry to hijack the thread again but I had previously asked about dealer opinions in the Triad area. I'm new to the area btw. Got to thinking about it and was wondering what dealer/shops are more into the dualsport/adventure groups.

I have 2 motives for the question.. First off, that's my main interest for riding and second I have a riding buddy from Oregon that started GiantLoop. They make saddlebags for adventure touring. I wanted to spread the word as this is one of those products that make you say "why hasn't anyone else done this?" I don't want to come across as some sort of salesperson but Dave and Harod are both avid riders and they've come up with a great solution and I'd like to see them do well.
Anyway, I've gotten some good feedback on the local dealers here but I wanted to know which are more oriented toward the dualsport crowd. If anyone can chime in with an opinion I'd really appreciate it.

Oh and if anyone is interested in what I've been blabbering about you can look it up here on Advrider under the Vender section or here..
