Looks like they had quite an ice storm up there a few days ago.

My wife and I just rode about 50 miles of back roads here in York county this afternoon. It just felt good to get out on the bikes. I think those old street relics (bikes, not us) needed the ride as bad as we did.

We rode from Old Fort to Lake Lure yesterday, and it was also pretty bad looking. Lots of Progress Energy trucks etc.

I'm sorry we missed you. I hope to extend yesterday's mission into a Tour de Escarpment. I'll let you know. It would be nice to meet you.

Cheers

Brown Mountain Lights

Enduro

February 17. Last year it was about 65 miles. Maybe 7 or 8 on pavement. Fun stuff. I've done it the last two years on my XR 650 L, and it was all of the trail riding I want to do in one day. I'd like to see someone do it on a KLR. I've seen someone do the some of the tricky parts on a DR. Caveat: I'm not signing up until Saturday, so if it's muddy, I'll pass. They have a dual sport class. The Unifour Trail Bike Club and SETRA are good folks who work to keep Brown Mountain open.

Just found this thread (not sure how I missed it) but I'm new to the greater Charlotte area and new to dualsporting. I swapped my Burgman for an F650 and I am looking to get it dirty. If you all don't mind a total dirt noob tagging along I'd love to join you one of these days. I promise to fall at least once to make for amusing pictures in return for my slow pace.

Also anyone around Fort Mill, SC give me a shout... I ride weekends and occasional weekdays and generally have no idea where I am going, I just head away from Charlotte and hope the GPS gets me home someday.

Welcome Slappy!

remember me?(HF lift?)

It's nice to hear from ya again, maybe we can tool around up in the Pisgah forest sometime soon.

If you are planning to ride the Char area, give us a heads up here, thanks..
someone is always riding up this way, plus about 100 motorcycles an hour went by this past Saturday on Highway 321..

Lots of HARDCORE rides everywhere...only can choose a few

Check out http://www.carolinariders.com/forums, there are a lot of us who ride dual sports and there seems to be someone going out almost every weekend. The rides are usually posted a few days in advance.
