Wife introduced our car to a brick wall ... one quater panel and a door later... they severed ways.

Will be a bodywork weekend for me.

CanteenBoy had himself an adventure today
Set out looking for an old jeep trail I've been eyeing on my map for a while...couldn't find it so I went up to an old farm house to ask if the old guy knew the trail...turns out it began in his back yard! He told me he only let folks he knew ride the trail, so I stuck out my hand and introduced myself. Guy was pretty nice, gave me good directions and sent me on my way. The climb up to the ridge got steep, muddy, and tight...fast. I wanted to take some pics, but stopping was out of the question!

Once on top of the ridge, the riding was nice rocky double track

The first of many downed trees

Guess what's under those leaves...That's right, baby head rocks and snot mud

Nice view from the top

down the backside

....a clue to my whereabouts

OK CanteenBoy...I give up, do tell the route/location. That one doesn't look familiar.

Cool I know that one. Not too far from my house. I just didn't know about the trail. So did he tell you to bring your friends just don't spook the chickens when you come by the house.

Looking at the map it looks like a lot of roads are labled trail off of 115. I know of a few around Brushey Mt. Rd. Maybe time for some more exploring???

Great pics by the way.

I think more exploring is most def in order...the area has some potential to link up with other places nearby.
I've also got another spot I've been wanting to check out north of there...looks very remote and very promising As soon as I see an entirely free weekend day come up, I'll post so anyone who wants can join me.
Glad you had a good ride Rob...looks COLD!!

New brush guards--check

Score card--check

Row sticker--check

Clifford says he's ready.

Off we go for a trail ride.

It was all good on the way out, but as soon as I got there, a cloud settled on Rally HQ. It's effect: getting everything wet. 9 o'clock. Line em up. It was still relatively dry.

The dudes from New York made it. They were here last year, and I met them at the dual sport run in Hancock over the summer.

These guys do the new enduro rules. No more stopping short and waiting around the corner. Keep riding until someone tells you to stop, and then wait for them to tell you to go. Not that I have to worry about getting someplace ahead of schedule.

The first section was comprised largely of sweet, freshly cut, sticky, green singletrack. It was tight in a few spots but most of it flowed pretty nicely. I didn't get in anyone's way. Brown Mountain was in a dense fog, and visibility was poor, so I was disoriented out there much of the time. From start to finish, the theme was slippery roots. A lot of them.

My odometer read 49 miles at the end. The roll chart said something closer to 60. I didn't do the math. These guys do an awesome job laying out a fun ride. Big props.

My big red dog needs a bath. He didn't get as dirty as he did last week at Maggie Valley.

All dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.

I am crippled today.

Rishlands is gated. Not sure how long it's been up but it's right past the 2 real nice houses.

Richlands is a public road (the main road that dumps into Aho rd)! The residents there are giving the impression that it is a private road. This was originally a postal route trail used in the 1800's. There was also a logging community in the early 1900's, which has a graveyard, which cannot be blocked. Ride past the gate, and twist the throttle !

Sounds like 11 miles worth of wheelies?
