They're using those in porn films now?? Dang, here I am wishing I had one of those dentist mirrors.

I'm off to tangle with it. Hopefully, I'll get it running as Maple Sally will be in PRIME shape after this rain.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is GTGs?

I have done a lot of the FS roads up near Brown Mtn, but looking for someone to show me some of the more off-road stuff up there.

Event: Bridge to Bridge Incredible Challenge
When: 9/21/2008 - 9/21/2008 at 7:00:00 AM
Where:

Since 1989, close to 1,000 cyclists from all over the country have converged on Caldwell County for the Bridge to Bridge Incredible Challenge on the third Sunday each September. Athletic abilities of the riders range from cycling professionals to weekend warriors, each with their eye one a common goal—to conquer Grandfather Mountain. The 100-mile ride begins in Lenoir at an elevation of 1,080 feet and rises to a climax of 5,280 at the Mile-High Swinging Bridge atop Grandfather Mountain. What makes so many cyclists train all year for this great event? Grandfather Mountain is only open to cyclists during this one event, so training for the last 2.5 miles of Pure Hill is impossible. The unique finish makes the Bridge to Bridge Incredible Challenge one of the top rides in the nation, according to Bicycling magazine.

Thanks for the tip Huffman!

North Carolina Deputies Ambushed: One Dead

Two Caldwell NC county deputies were shot last night while answering a call and one of the officers died early today.
The two men were dispatched to a house to investigate why someone called 9-1-1, and then hung up.
It appears the call was a set-up for an ambush. When they arrived, the deputies were shot as they got out of their cars.
The name of the officer who died has not been released. The other deputy was treated and released. His bullet-proof vest is credited with saving his life.
State and local officials are searching a wooded area about five miles out of Lenoir for the suspect.

A manhunt was under way in Caldwell County on Saturday for the person who shot two deputies overnight. One of the deputies died and the second was injured.Investigators said shots were fired when deputies responded to a 911 hang-up call.
The injured deputy was shot in the chest, but was saved by his bulletproof vest. The deadly shooting came on the heels of another double shooting last week. Two SWAT team members escaped serious injury from that incident. Now, the police department is mourning."As you can imagine, we're dealing with a lot of emotions in our department as we go through this," a police officer said.

On September 10th two members of the same department's SWAT Team were shot while executing a warrant. They and the assailant who was also shot are still recovering from wounds.

CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. -- More than 50 officers and SWAT team members are searching for a gunman who shot two deputies late Friday night. One of those deputies died after what police are calling an ambush. Two deputies were shot in Caldwell County Friday night. Eyewitness News has learned that one of those deputies died.Authorities said it started at around 9:15 p.m. Adam Klutz and Lt. Chris Martin responded to a 911 hang-up call from the Oak Hill community east of Lenoir.Once the deputies arrived at the home on Fox Winkler Road, shots rang out in what authorities described as an ambush. Authorities said Klutz was getting out of the patrol car when he was shot. Klutz sustained a head injury. Martin was shot three times in the chest, but was saved by his bullet-proof vest.Klutz died at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Martin was treated and released from Caldwell Memorial Hospital.Authorities said they believe the shooter is Skip Brinkley, an Iraq War veteran. More than 50 officers, including SWAT teams from Catawba County and Burke County, are searching the area for the Brinkley. Authorities said he should be considered armed and dangerous.Authorities are telling people living in the area in Caldwell County to be wary until Brinkley is captured.

Right now, investigators from a number of police agencies are looking for Larry Wayne Brucker, Jr. He is more commonly known in the area as Skip Brinkley. He is described as having blonde hair, a goatee and green eyes. He is 5’8”, medium build and was last seen wearing a grey Carhart Tee Shirt, brown work pants and a farm bureau hat. Brucker is considered to be armed and dangerous.

They have reopened the area to traffic and removed the command post. They had a helicopter, small plane, and even a jet circling the area.Around 4pm Sunday the aircraft left the area. When they left so did the leo's.I never heard why they ceased operations.
It has been a rough 9 days for the Sherrifs Department.I can't remember 4 deputies being shot in my life
