Well I DID manage to break away this afternoon and take a little ride.

I headed straight for Hickory and look how I was treated.

It'd probably been over a year since I had seen that EVIL rascal..and since I heard that he was terminally ill with an impending marriage I decided maybe I should stop by and see the old boy while he still had some time.
(I think he's dead set on going through with it though)

Guess what happened next?

I took a wrong turn and look how I was treated....again.

That chance meeting was cool...good to see ya again Gaston Gagne and EVILONE.

Here's to the both of ya....

I told ya I wanted to test the Wee's dirt legs a bit more.

It sure was a nice day... If you were stuck at work.

Just a hint of color showing up in the higher elevations.

Stocking up for Tag-O-Rama

I'm not too sure how Granfather feels being sold to the State....He wasn't talking.

NOT the best time of day to get this shot. Then I rode right past the viewpoint on Edgemont Rd.

The shadows were starting to get looong in Gragg.

Gates ARE Open

Then I decided to visit an old flame.

She was in great shape and the little Wee was stuck like glue.

I've always wondered why they put this marker out in the middle of nowhere.

Then the sun set and I went home.

That was a chance encounter. I don't even go home that way. I'm glad I got to see the V in person. I wish I could have gone, but the bicycling was really good. The track was quite fast.

I wondered why you would go home that way once I got to 126....ya know I shouldn't have even turned that way to correct my missed turn.

Maple Sally was real tacky so I'm sure the trails were in great shape yesterday too! In fact I could lean that bike in the turns and not slide at all....
(it was similar to riding on wet pavement)
....and I thought I'd have to just put-put though there....heck, I may have posted one of my better times.

Well I got all the dust rinsed off it ....so as soon as my Mrs. gets home we're gonna head over to Lake Lure for lunch. It'll be her 1st test 2-up on this bike's pillion.

FYI...my GF's family is having a huge pumpkin sale tomorrow at their farm. Located in Grace Chapel, NC on Ike Starnes Rd. Just look for the big red barn. Bring the kids and let them pick out their pumpkins to carve for Halloween.

They do sell other produce as well. Strawberries in the spring (which you can also bring the kids or family and pick yourself if you like), canteloupes, watermelons, cucumbers, green beans, & tomatoes in the summer, and the best sweet corn, I repeat...BEST SWEET CORN anywhere!

This is a KEY piece of information that I will save for the future. Thanks.

Kevin, I took my Versys through there a few weeks ago, and I was amazed at how well the thing would go. I don't think my record time was in jeopardy, but it was fast enough to keep me paying attention. That road is someplace really special. I bet I could put an XT 350 with 18 wheels together pretty cheap....

I'm bailing out of the classroom and heading to Mt. Solon, VA (I HATE Virginia). No discussions about route or where to eat. Ciaobella

If anyone wants to join us, myself and 3-4 others are riding tomorrow morning. No planned route yet. Will just go wherever anyone wants to ride but plan to stick to as much dirt as possible. We're meeting here at the shop @ 8:30am and will plan on returning around 1-2pm but possibly a little later depending on where we end up.

Anyone know if Hoyle's station in Colletsville has gas? Haven't been by there in a while but I'm guessing they do by now...

I've never actually timed myself........it felt like I was making good time with little effort though.

A Super Moto set-up would ROCK that course!!

VA?....Shenandoah 500?

Hey wickedthunder,
Those pumkins look good!
y'all think of me while I'm stuck at work today. ...and tomorrow...

Oh btw...my Wife did NOT like the pillion on the little Wee...may have to move the top-box back and try again.

Sorry man, 4 of us rode and I only snapped 3 pics the whole time. We rolled out a little after 9am and were moving along pretty quickly so I kinda just forgot about taking pics. Went to Buffalo Cove and Todd's General Store was out of gas. So we trekked on up and back thru the Richlands where EatPharmD took a dip in the mud...which I missed being a little further ahead. But I caught the remnants at the store...

We hit the store about 10:30 and some chores had to be done so 2 split off after water & snacks. That left me and EatPharmD so we hit the back roads to Anthony Creek and back down to Schoolhouse and Maple Sally. When we came out by Hoyle's there were people getting gas but we didn't stop so I guess they're good to go.

Did you get any riding in over the weekend?...or better yet, since I failed at it, any good pics?

nothing to see here...thank my due diligence in maintaining charged batteries..

But for some reason, critters love me....or my Orange juice

After this, about 4 labs or hounds about took me to the ground while i was affixed on the FedX guy who was backing up the road in a blind curve just ahead...

Critters love me, what can i say?
