Maple Sally? a bunch of you guys always whine i wish i had someone to show me around Caney/Moses and now you've got the chance and you're gonna go to Maple Sally???

seriously Maple Sally is a fun road but the weather looks like it's gonna be descent for sunday. come on over and ride!

i'm thinking we'll start someplace over in Sylva around 11am so you'll have time to trailer your bikes over and it can warm up a little. the temps should hold till about 4pm or so that'll be a full few hours of riding.

Sure hated to miss that event. Colonial Living History is my other hobby (riding has taken a lot of time from that lately ) and I try to attend 3 or 4 events a year.
If you want to see a good Rev War battle, take a scoot down to Camden the 8th or 9th. I will be with the cannons...plenty loud boom-boom!
Did someone say Maple Sally this weekend?????

You mind if a Georgia boy comes up and tags along?

this is not a beginner ride and we will NOT be baby sitting. we will happily wait for skilled riders that are slower but if you're in over your head, we will happily point you in the right direction, out of the woods.

I want to get back over that way before Thankgiving.

My days off change from Thu-Fri to Fri-Sat next week so....

Will anybody be up for a Caney Fork ride any of the following Saturdays?

Nov 8th, 15th or 22nd

I'd like to find a few hardy folk to ride with on one of those Saturdays.

Let's tenatively pick one...........

Wish I could Kevin, but getting off at midnight, then trying to go that far to ride on a Saturday really sux. I'm really hoping these guys don't mind me tagging along. They sound like they ride the way I do.

Let's hear more about this weekend's ride... I might come up as well... supposed to ride JB Highway with Coates but it looks like the opportunity to ride Caney Fork may be short lived.

come on out!

i don't mind if some of you GA guys come. i've been wanting to hook up with someone down that way. hoping they could show me some stuff south of here for when it gets cold enough that i want to head south and ride for the day.

at this point i've got no particular plan. to be honest i was hoping someone else would take over logistics etc. and i could just lead or help lead the ride

that not being likely.........if i'm planning this i was thinking we could start in the Sylva area (Food Lion by the hospital?) or maybe East Laporte park just at the head of Caney Fork on NC107 around 10:30am. that would still leave us till 3:30-4 pm to ride before it starts getting too cold again. what does the crew think?

oh and i assume everyone saw the first post. this would be a dirt bike ride not suitalbe for adventure bikes. i'm not into baby sitting. everyone does feel confident they can ride Caney and pick up thier own bike if they drop it. (drops over the side of the hill like Gastons being the exception )

time change!

i forgot about the time change this sunday morning (2am). so that means if we're gonna catch the good weather we need to start at 10:30 not 11am.

so new plan is 10:30 at East Laporte park on NC107 at the head of Caney Fork right by the BP gas station.

The time is set back an hour so wouldn't the new time be 10:00am?

huh!?!? you would think so wouldn't you

i changed it to accomodate anyone who would be driving in from out of town. i was hoping Wicked or Gaston could make it.

oh and i don't want to scare anyone off with the "gotta be able to ride thing". if you think "it looks fun" come on out. if you "think you can ride it" maybe not.

Hey Now!

stop scaring people. i'm gonna end up not having anyone but my buddy Joe to ride with

there hasn't been any real rain in months so that creek crossing won't be nearly that high and all the snakes have headed in for the winter. the rest of that stuff is just waiting for us though

BTW who is that on the SWEET KTM 2-stroke?

That pic of the bottom of Ruff Butt was taken the Friday before Labor Day just a couple days after a tropical storm.

Those 2 guys on the KTMs had come up from Florida to ride with Yanni.... but he ditched them on Friday so we showed 'em around a little.
(funny part is..Yanni took 'em back to the same area on Saturday)

Here's a couple of his pics from DDS..

Those are of the same hill I was getting some help on here....in fact it's right at the top of the previous pic..from the opposite angle.

sure, come on out. it doesn't look like we'll have much of a crowd. it looks like most people aren't gonna make.

Really would like to come but I'm in the same boat as ValveCrusher...having trouble lining up a ride/trailer to get there. Still working on it though. I've got one guy still waiting to see if he's gonna be off work...if so, then we are there.

Gaston, you know your plans yet? or have room for a DRZ on that trailer?...and I don't mean Layla's...
