Hey,
Looks like a good turn out on Sunday!

saluda and myself went down to Carolina Adventure World yesterday for the 1st time. CLICK HERE to check out the Ride Report.

The old DR didn't miss a lick....with almost everything being slow 1st-2nd gear riding.......2nd big test for that stator re-wind.

Wtf?

I missed this thread. I spend a lot of time in that area and just did 200 miles on Monday. Friggin awesome weather. Met some friends at the teepee in Mortimer and then headed out from there. I came from Raleigh and they came fron TN. Ate at Famous Louises.

Usually unload in Wilkesboro or Morganton.

Riding

I was waiting at the store in Mortimer and a guy came up on a new DRZ and said he lived just down the street and got tired of seeing all the DS riders having so much fun and bought one himself.

You do any trails in that area that are decent enough to do with a 650? We generally just ride the gravel stuff around there and over towards Table rock and 90 and that general area .

PM me offline to keep it off the web if you care to share. Don't need another Deals Gap.

Yeah it would rock to live out there. Imagine pulling out of you drive way onto a dirt road. I ride a DR also and there is some nice DRable trails and jeep roads up there. If you have a gazateer(smeeling?) then have a look and look for little dotted line roads.

Saturday I'm going up towards Ashville to play around on Hurrican Creek Rd. There is a pretty decent size group going but most will be on plated dirt bikes. I'll be on the only DR so anybody else with a proper DS come tag along so I'm not the only one on a big DS. The only thing I would suuggest is knoddies.

Sunday I fly out for two weeks so can't do anything then or next weekend. I'll be in OR and OR sucks when your in a cage. But for any of you who just want to stay in this area and ride this weekend. If you go east on 268, out of Lenior, make a left on Elk Creek Road, right before the little gas station. Take Elk Creek for a good ways till you come to Jakes Mountain on the left. It's a road like Mapply Sally and takes you up around the park way. Make a left on the Parkway and then a left on Blackberry which will take you to 321. Make a left on 321 and a right on Waterfall Rd. and from here you can work your way over to Wilsons Creek area via Globe Mt. Rd.

If uins want to wait then we can check it out on the 26th when I'm back in town.

Guys ya'all are missing out if you don't attend the Hurricane Assault this weekend! Basher, you'll be fine on the DR. Just show up and ride. To anyone interested this is the same route I'll be using to lead the 7th Annual Eastern Rendevous...if ya want a sneak peak come on down.

I've put together a nice 85% dirt route through Hurricane and lots more. Everyone is invited to meet up at the Exxon at the end of J-Creek (276 where you get on I-40) at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Peace.

Me and a couple other guys are going to be heading out on Sat. KayaKTM has to get his KTM serviced at Fun Cycles on Sat morning so we're gonna try and head out by 11:00. Not sure of a route yet but something on the Table Rock side of 181 probably.
