50 Years on Two Wheels

Hay,

I love this thread. So many era's, so many models and such diversity. I'm celebrating 50 years on two wheels with a trip across Europe this summer.

Any old timers wanna go? The dream still lives...

Ride Well,
Coach

I've saved a lot of these pics, printed them out and put them on the walls of my shop. Keep 'em coming!

Really great bunch of old pics! Lucky that so many survived that you could share with all of this. Old times, great times! Life was so simple!

Your Grandmother is a very special lady! Especially for that time period! I hope you have gotten to listen (and hopefully write down) to her stories!

I don't know if this has been posted before but in 1934 two women rode a 600 Panther from London to South Africa being the first ever motorcylists to cross the Sahara.

a toast to those who came before (and another to those still with us and still out there) and remember our responsibility to those who will follow.
I don't know about everyone else, but looking at these makes me think that the overly passionate condemnation of the "wrong" bikes by some people is kinda pointless. People all over the world have been taking whatever they have, pointing down the trail and saying, "Hell yeah, let's give it a try, what's the worse that could happen?" for a long time now. Adventure is where you find it, whether on the other side of the globe or just past the end of the pavement.
Not to say that there is anything wrong with some good-natured disparagement, but let's keep it fun.
